Holiday
Strength
Stocks rallied big early Friday morning only
to give another 100 point gain back by the close.
About the only positive was that there was a last
half hour rally that made it respectable. We
really have to be on our toes here.
This is a short trading week with Tuesday being a
half day and of course Wednesday being a holiday.
The week has a strong positive bias but we really
have to be on our toes as the volume will be light
and the swings could dramatic.
We are still within the recent trading range but the
fact that the market can't seem to hang onto early
gains lately is a concern. We've only seen one
close below the 50-day moving average but the market
quickly rebounded. That's something to keep an
eye on.

If you plan to stay in the stock funds you may want
to take a look at this chart, which was posted by a
member of our
message board.
There is a clear trend of small caps underperforming
the larger stocks in July. You will also
notice the overall picture of how relatively poor
stocks do in July, August, and September. Of
course every year is different with some summers
better than others, but stocks are definitely
swimming against the current the next few months.

Being that I ended June with 100% in the S fund
(small caps), I should start to look elsewhere.
My thinking is that I will use any seasonal strength
this week to lighten up. The
Sentiment Survey system is out of the market
this week, and the EbbChart is moving aside for a
couple of days as well.
The EbbChart System
is in I-fund for today but is making an interfund
transfer this morning. Read more on the
ebbchart page.
Trader Fred's

Administrative Note: One of the things
that has always been missing from TSP Talk has been
good information about the Savings Plan itself.
We have focused mainly on managing the funds.
Well, we have joined forces with
FedSmith.com,
who will now share their
TSP
Corner articles with us. Check in with TSP
Corner each week to get the latest TSP news.
That's all
for today.
I
am on vacation this week but I should be able to
continue to check in daily.
I am currently 100% S fund. See you tomorrow!
