Today's Comments (Short Term Outlook)                             Printer friendly
14,000 is met with trouble

The Dow reached 14,000 yesterday but dropped back before the close.  After the close, both Intel and Yahoo reported earnings and judging by the after hours trading, investors were not too thrilled with what they heard.  Either that or they are taking profits from their recent run up.  Both are down over 4% and as I write this Tuesday night, and the S&P and Nasdaq futures are down more than modestly.

I have been mentioning that Trader Fred's market strength chart has been indicating we are nearing a short-term weak period as the strength indicator has been moving down or sideways for a week now.  That indicator usually leads the market by about a week.

He is also showing one of those cluster formations in the summed NYSE volume chart meaning we will likely see a 1% move in one direction or the other either today or tomorrow.  Judging by the futures, today looks like a good candidate.

Trader Fred's
TSP Trader System is still on a sell signal.  You can read Trader Fred's entire commentary on the system page.

The EbbChart System has backed off to the F-fund today but will be making another transfer this morning.  The system finally had a small losing day yesterday and that's almost a relief.  If it was right for another day or two I think the SEC may have started asking questions.  The system has been white hot the last couple of weeks.  Find out more on the ebbchart page.

I used to play a lot of poker in my pre-TSP Talk days and this week is the Christmas of poker as the World Series of Poker is down to the final table.  I subscribed to DirecTV's pay per view of the final day and it is on all night - or at least until they have a winner, so I am going to cut this short tonight and get back to the action.  See you tomorrow.
