Bulls not giving in

Stocks powered their way higher yesterday as the Dow jumped 179-points, and the TSP C and S funds picked up over 3% each on the day after some positive housing data.  Volume was light and resistance is near, so the test for the bulls is here and now.

The S&P 500 is now pushing against resistance after yesterday's big rally.  It was an outside day, meaning yesterday's low was lower than Monday's low, and yesterday's high was higher than Monday's high.  The fact that it closed at the high of the day is positive makes it a positive outside day, but volume was light in front of today's FOMC meeting.

The NYSE overbought/oversold indicator is reaching an extreme overbought level, which is another test for this rally.  A strong market will continue to rally during overbought conditions.

This being an options expiration week and today being a Fed FOMC meeting, the rest of the week should provide many fireworks.

Today is the 13th trading day in March, and you can see in the chart below that the historically strong March seasonal bias starts to dissipate during the 2nd half of the month.

I will be on the road today and out of town the rest of the week - and in a different time zone - so my schedule will be a little different than usual.  I will try to update the commentary each night but I may be a little slower than usual responding to any emails.

We started our annual March Madness contest.  If you are interested in participating, please click here for more information.

That's all for today.  Thanks for reading.  See you tomorrow!
