Another one day wonder, or the real deal? Stocks rose sharply yesterday with the major averages jumping 6% on high volume.  Much of it was short covering and we are left wondering if this is the real deal, or if this is just another one day wonder; something we have seen over and over again during this bear market? The S&P 500 was up 6.4% and still has some room above with the open gap at 734, and the old support line (now resistance) at 741.  Volume was impressive.                    Chart provided courtesy of www.decisionpoint.com, analysis by TSP Talk We talked on Monday about possibly seeing a rally with a revision to Mark to Market accounting, or a change in the uptick rule, and that was basically a big part of yesterday's rally.  We may have become overly bearish ourselves, and probably should have noticed that, but I keep thinking about those put/call ratios where the herd had NOT become too bearish, but was actually showing signs of bullishness.  Tough call.  Whether we head straight back down today (Wed.), or follow-through on the rally, is anyone's guess.  I know where our premium services are pointing and for now, that's good enough for me.  There could be pain for anyone caught on the wrong side but I am trying to take the emotion out the picture and stick with my plan. I have tickets to an NCAA Conference tournament the next couple of night (starting Tuesday) so I am going to cut this short and post it early (Tuesday night) and take off.  Good luck!
