The selling is relentless, the mood hopeless and the losses mind numbing but there is going to be some absolutely fantastic buys one of these days. We just have to make sure this market doesn't kill us first and steal all of our capital.

If we can hang on and survive this sooner or later the clouds will part and the sun will shine once again. Markets this ugly don't last forever but they do a very good job of dishing out pain and making us feel like it will never be possible to make money on the long side again.

There really is no great mystery about what is happening in the market. We are selling off big and fast and buyers simply don't feel comfortable trying to catch stocks that are acting like a falling piano.

Sure there are some great bargains but obviously that doesn't matter in a market that is selling off like this one. Staying patient and holding cash isn't very exciting but it is the best way to deal with this market. There will be plenty of time to reload longs once the market turns back up so don't be overanxious to do so at this point.
