ATR - End of the day comments
The final day of the first quarter of 2006 was uneventful. The action
was choppy once again and closed slightly lower. Volume was light with the
NASDAQ under 2 billion shares traded. Breadth was nicely positive and the
small caps led the charge like they have throughout the quarter. The only
sectors finishing the day in the green were the biotechs and banks but the
positive breadth offset the lack of sector participation.
Overall the trading today was simply random with a lot of end of the quarter
portfolio adjustments for accounting purposes. It is dangerous to try to
read too much into the action on a day like this.
We are quite pleased with the quarter but the key to success in the market
is to keep at it day after day. You cant rest on your laurels for long if at
all. The market is demanding taskmaster and we have to be ready to go to
work once again come Monday morning. Rest up this weekend and don't forget
to set those clocks forward an hour.
