Thread: Sub forums

    Default Sub forums

There are so many sub forums, this place is an absolute mess. Some of the forums haven't been used in a year or more, maybe eliminating or combining some might make the place more navigable?

or a person could think of it more like a library. not all the books get checked out all the time, but that is usually not a good reason for burning them.

of course, we do live in america so a person is always free to invent their own bookmobile.

Not a bad observation. It might be worth the MODS and Tom discussing it.
May the force be with us.

There's been a few times I've found answers to my questions on old posts. For instance, "How does the I fund value get computed?", "How does the FERS supplement work?", "How come we only get 2 IFT's per month?"

MODS, please delete all the sub forums (except the ones I read !!!)

Where is that "sarcasm font" when I need it ???? Guess I better do a forum search....

Deleting all of that history is not a good idea. All of your previous post would have to go, all of the knowledge would go, without that I would have less than 1,000 posts!;swearWHAT the HELL????!!!!

A true bureaucrat, inefficient and snarky when they know they are wrong. Cool story bro.

For some reason I get the distinct impression your posts will become history sooner than most.

I think the good Dr could serve a useful purpose here, if the good Dr. replicated Birchtree's approach. Forge your own investing path in terms of b&h steady as she goes-like he did, without lobbing grenades at others or allowing other's potshots to cause you to deviate from your own path. Birch served as an excellent successful role model for those who may choose to follow B&H consistently from the very earliest years of their investing life. the good dr. does not serve in similar capacity, not given the current derogatory attitude towards those who don't see things the same way.

The sniping at basically Tom and everyone but B&Hers, is hardly productive. Haven't you learned yet, better results with carrot than with stick? what are you hoping to accomplish with the mockery and snark, anyway? If the philosophy of this forum doesn't fit your view on investing, and you despise people who practice non-B&H approach, this probably isn't the place for you. It won't help you and you aren't helping make the forum a better place, not with the current attitude.

Birch used the carrot approach by hinting at what his approach had achieved for him over 30+ years of consistent b&h and reinvestment, especially with dividend-producing stocks outside his tsp. He didn't put down others who chose a different path. People actually listened to him and respected him. You? not so much. I'd encourage you to go find Birchtree's account thread and read it if you really want to influence people around here to reconsider b&h in a productive way, especially people just starting out on their tsp careers. lose the attitude if you want to contribute in a positive way and still be a B&Her.

How many of the recessions has your tsp ridden down and back up since the 80s or 90s, how long did it take for your account to recover each time. how close to retirement are you, could you afford to ride another big one down right before retirement or in first couple years of retirement. What works for you will not necessarily work for someone else who's in a different stage in their career or current tsp balance or life experience with major market dives over the past few decades.

Birch got in a lot of trouble frequently. Usually I was too late to see what he wrote that caused the problem. Did see the one where he told someone here to sit on it and rotate. If I recall correctly that involved someone not respecting patriotism and military service and America.
