    Default TSP Rules

So I have been reading on the forum and I am confused....a bit. Can someone do me the favor of clearing it up for me ..please. How many times can you change the way you allocate money from your income going in to your accounts (how you allocate money when you get paid going into your TSP) in a day/month/year? And how many times can you change allocations of your EXISTING investments between accounts in your TSP (move money around in your existing TSP funds) in a day/month/year? Sorry, like I said I am kind of a newbee

Hey newbee that's why were here!

    First welcome.

You can make a payroll contribution change as many time as you feel you need to.

You can make only two interfund transfers a month, but lets say you make one IFT into the S fund then one into the I fund. That.s your two for the month, but you can use as many as you want to go back to the G fund, 5% one day, 5% the next, 1% another, 10% another, until you move it all back to the G fund.

Thanks for clearing that up for me....I read on the TSP website that if you do a reallocation before 5pm....its done on the same day (for paycheck to TSP allocations). But how long does it take for IFT's?? I just want to know, if I make a change, how close to the wire (time-wise) I can be when I reallocate.

You have to get your IFT changes (changes to your current allocation) in by 1200 EST - and if you are using the AutoTracker (a very nice tool and something all the big cats here like to sink their teeth into) you must document that change by 1210 EST. The trades are actually 'settled' after the market close at market close prices. Of course that means that you don't know how much you are paying or how much you are getting since you must pull the switch hours before the actual trade is made. Oh well.

    Happy Hunting
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
