    Default TSP IFT's Question

I have often wondered when an IFT actually is calculated, when you launch the IFT - does your change become effective immediately???? Or does TSP apply it at Market closure?? Say I make a change at 10:00 AM, and the stocks are low, do I realize the low cost at that point, or does TSP calculate when the market closes for the day.
The TSP site is very vague on this. If I was buying stock on the open market, it would take effect at time oif the purchase, does TSP operate the same way...........puzzling.

    Default Re: TSP IFT's Question

When you make an IFT by noon Eastern Time the final cost (price per share) is calculated at the price when the market closes that day. If you make an IFT after noon Eastern Time the (price per share) final numbers will be posted the following day. Example; you make an IFT at 11am Monday, your price per share will be calculated at the closing of the market Monday evening. If you make an IFT at 2pm Monday your price per share will be calculated at the close of market Tuesday. However, if you make an IFT at 2pm Monday you can still cancel that IFT before noon Tuesday and make a new one.
May the force be with us.
