Thread: Interfund Transfer 6/08 for 6/09/06

Default Interfund Transfer 6/08 for 6/09/06

Seeing the S&P 500 test and break through the 1245 area. We could see a little panic selling before the day is done so I'll start nibbling here. I am initiating an interfund transfer this morning going 70% G, 30% C fund.

I agree with your line, Tom, but I think you might be a bit out front here.

Interestingly, someone I work with was 100% G fund since starting a year ago, and I told him that he'd be wise to simply plunk it all into the L 2040 and let it ride. His interfund transfer is effective at the COB of today's trading. How's that for timing?

I hope you're right. That 70% cash is looking for a better home.

Nice timing on the G fund guy.

Well, he just talked to me about investing last night (he doesn't work with me often - only when covering for sick leave on OT), and he asked what he should do. I told him, and he actually did what I said he should.

Now I need to listen to my own advice.

... and we're now below 1245 (closing price) for the first time in quite awhile. The I fund is down well over 10% from its all-time high. Wow.

I think we're in for some more pain before the bottom is done forming, but I still pulled the trigger and moved most of my money into stocks this morning. For the longer term, I think this is as good an entry point as any. If we're still close to these prices on Friday, I'm going to move as much money as I can afford into my Roth IRA for this year's contribution. I have the same feeling right now that I did last spring when the market was struggling, and it rallied from there, just like I think it'll rally from here - though I do not believe the turnaround will come as quickly. If your 10% correction mantra is correct Tom, we still have about another 30 point drop on the S&P to deal with before going back up.

What the market will probably due is bounce, catch a wave of buyers, then push to the 1200 area. We may be too oversold in the short term to move straight down from here, but you never know I guess.

G'day Tom and all, couldn't get to the site yesterday......but it wasn't necessary.....we all watching that feller hanging over the cliff slip with one hand yesterday......gotta watch out for the wind and heat today.....expecting some big puffs of wind today/tomorrow.....extremely high heat wave in the area.....

Meanwhile, Trigger and I still stitting in the shade taking in a cool one......pondering 5 stars and 1 star and suspicions unfounded by a newly self declared nemesis with self declared honesty, integrity, morals (like a snake)..........strange I can say the least.....figured we should sit a wait in a safe cool spot for a while.....

Other than that, market looks shaken....No BS!!
