Thread: TSP Installment and Transfer

  1. Default TSP Installment and Transfer

New to this site and my question may have been answered somewhere else.

    BACKGROUND:
Initiated the TSP-99 two years ago with a monthly installment and a transfer. Got pages 1-3 for the installment notarized and got the financial institution to complete page 4. All went well. Want to do another transfer (page 4) and am being told that pages 1-3 (installment) needs to be re-notarized even though installments are NOT being changed. Makes no sense to me. So based on the 3 calls to TSP yesterday, EVERY time I want to do a transfer (page 4), pages 1-3 (installment) needs to be re-notarized. Am I missing something?

Hi Lawrence. Thanks for joining us.

By "transfer" in regards to the TSP-99, I assume it means withdrawals from your TSP account? I believe it has to be done for sure if there is a spouse involved, but if no spouse then it would make more sense not to have to go through that.

TSP considers it a "transfer" whenever you move money to another IRA (tIRA or Roth) at another institution.

Yeah, that sounds like overkill to need a notary each time, unless the spouse thing is the issue.
