It is true, this thread is in fact worthless as we take these numbers at face value, that value being your word. At the same time I'm not going to go out and accuse someone of lying, but I will say put up or shut up by joining the tracker. Your previous returns mean nothing to me, what you do in the public forum is what counts. Now if anyone here feels the need to prove themselves, they can send me their PDF statements and I'll be happy to verify their integrity.

Where do I send it? I can send you a screen shot of the 12 month return.

MarkC, Just curious, how long have you had your TSP account?
May the force be with us.

I'm 33 years old and started my TSP 10.5 years ago. I'm currently trying to send the screenshot to JTH, but it looks like he signed off.

Mark, you don't have to send anything to prove what you already know to be true. My point was directed at the forum as a whole. You've already joined the tracker, this will be the measure of performance most here will hold to be true because it's something we all equally can verify with each other.

I emailed it to your gmail account. I know that I don't have to prove anything, but I don't like people thinking I am a liar, when I despise liars.

I've verified Mark's 12-Month Personal Rate of Return and it is indeed 48.12%. I was also able to verify the integrity of the entire file had not been compromised, don't ask me how I know, I won't tell you. That means he didn't just cut and paste his return, it's legit. Anyways, Mark I look forward to your incites, please do feel free to provide them for the benefit of all, and welcome to the team.

Thank you JTH, I knew people would not believe me and I did not want people to ignore my advice because they thought I was lying. Obviously, luck does play a role in this, as every IFT is just an educated guess. I have always made IFTs, but I work a late shift and I would normally read the news at work and my arrival time was after the IFT deadline (10am for MST), so I would often miss opportunities. I bought a smart phone (Droid) in April of 2010 and started to make a practice of reading the financial news when I first wake up. That has allowed me to gage the market with the opportunity to make an IFT if the conditions are right. I sometimes can’t sleep late anymore because I’m excited to see what the market is doing each morning.

Congratulations on the great returns. One question, what was you're return in 2008?

Good question. Don't be embarrassed. Most of us freely admit we felt pain that year.

Well Mark c if JTH verified it I will digress and say you must have some very very good luck. However I am still a skeptic, I have seen so many people come on here and talk up such a huge game then *poof* their gone just as fast. As in real life people who talk that big are 90% of the time doing just that, talking. I personally am the type, that when I show up I like to show up real quietly then slowly start proving myself by my actions, then I'll open my mouth, but not before I've proven myself though. I look forward to being able watch you progress on the tracker so I can see and more importantly learn from your strategy.
Just a lil o'l fishegg floatin around in this big ocean!
