VXF or VEXMX.
Hi,
I'm opening an IRA for my wife and I'm trying to locate different index funds (or ETFs) that track the DOJ Completion Index (DWCPF) like the S Fund but I can't find any index fund or ETF that track the DWCPF. Any ideas?
The returns for the S Fund are 13% (10yr), 9%(5yr) 11% (3yr) while the VEXMX is 12% (10yr) 7% (5yr) 7% (3yr). The returns for the S looks to be higher than the VEXMX, should I be paying attention to the 3/5 year or the 10yr avg would be a better performance indicator?
Welcome, Marche. VXF had slightly better returns than VEXMX during those periods, but most ETF and mutual funds will have higher expenses so it will impact the long term performance returns.

Thanks for the info.
What would be the pro/cons of going with a SP500 index fund and a extended marked index fund vs total stock market?
The only thing I can think of is that having the SP500 and Extended Market you can have better control of allocation. You could do 50/50 or any other percentage but not with a Total Market.
Right. I was assuming you wanted the option to do one or the other, or one more than the other like the TSP.

If you can get the total index in one shot, go for the total index. It's one fund and less you'll have to manage. (Rebalancing takes a bit more work in an IRA than TSP's simple interfund transfer)
If you think you can selectively outperform the total index by overweighting / underweighting small caps, then you'd want two funds.
