To my fellow men and women who have served in uniform any time over the last 100 years-
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
I served from the 1980's until 2003. Got to be the best position in the Army- a Platoon Leader of American Soldiers- as well as a U.S. Army Company Commander, and various enlisted positions in four different units over my career.
I would have to say Platoon Leader was the absolute most rewarding- I had 65 of the most wonderful Men and Women one could ever serve with. They did communications - and they did a wonderful job keeping the signal flowing.
My father served stateside during the Korean War. He was in a Nike Missile unit.
My Grandfather served in World War I in France-Field Artillery, and actually did the wire communications for Field Artillery. He told amazing stories of his life at age 17 , 18 and 19. Amazing man. and an amazing adventure.
My great, great Grandfather served in the War of 1812, Artillery, and his father served in the American Revolution (Infantry).
I am so proud of the men and women who actually stand up today, and put on the uniform, because THEY LOVE OUR NATION.
Thank you for serving- and know that YOU are the ones making AMERICA GREAT.
Happy Veterans Day. See you at the flagpole on Monday.
