    Default ARTHRITIS !!

Oh Man- last week here we had some funky big thunderstorms, extra heat, super humidity, and it all added up to MASSIVE ARTHRITIS PAIN for me.

I always thought those people who said the weather affected their joints were crazy. Right up until the big "A" for arthritis kicked my tail.

I have really painful arthritis in my left hip now- and the heat and humidity just killed me last week, and layed me out. I ended up not able to do a othing all weekend.

How about you? Know any way to reduce the pain from arthritis? Or are we all doomed to this kind of stuff when we get older?

Note: I 'm not talking "copper bracelets". I'm asking what really works. Food? Special spices? Chugging orange juice?

    What is your remedy?

(note- this "getting old" crap is for the birds. Except it still is better than the alternative.)

well u asked. I can put u on a path to do more research for yourself. it is all diet related.

avoid inflammation. one thing is avoid ALL wheat products and many other grains. grains throughout history were used as a survival food and not a mainstay of the diet. plus todays wheat is a hybrid and causes all types of problems.

much info out there that a lot of arthritis is a result of a bacterial infection.

You might try a TENS unit for pain electrical stimulation can help as well as antihistamines and alcohol.

Interesting articles on wheat and other grains. Do you consider Oats as OK or to be avoided?
    Thanks.

I'm ate up all over with old Arthur....
I can tell it's going to rain 48 hours before it gets here most of the time.
Stretching helps me more than anything.

I believe the wheat thing too. We weren't made to eat grass. If we were, we'd have 4 stomachs like cow's do.

And yes, this getting old is....well... getting old! ARTHRITIS !!

I have had joint and bone aches that affect different parts of my body just before the weather changes. I think it has to do with changes in barometric pressure. This has happened off and on since I was 16, so I seriously doubt it is only arthritis. I remember working at Aunt's restaurant at age 16, and elbow ached and was very cold, so I put it under a heat lamp (open one, as those were just above window where food plates were placed). That helped. Since then, I just wrap body part in a warm towel, sock or use a heating pad and Tiger Balm or Ben Gay. Make sure its not expired. Different parts get the weather ache....right elbow, left forearm, left thigh, wrist, ankle...no rhyme or reason.

Here is an article on this...two pages. WebMD.

Hope you all find something that helps ease your pain.

yes and no. yes if rolled oats are prepared correctly due to that
Oats contain more phytates than almost any other grain—in fact their high phosphorus content is largely bound up in their phytates. At the same time, oats possess relatively small amounts of phytase, the enzyme needed to neutralize phytate. The usual means to reduce phytate content in wheat or rye—by soaking for eight to twelve hours in a warm, slightly acid medium—is far less effective with oats. Germination and/or fermentation are the means to best convert phytate in oats.
Q: What oats should I eat? Are the phytases destroyed in the processing of oats?

A: We recommend rolled oats soaked overnight in an acidic medium and then cooked. Use rolled oats–they hydrate better than steel cut oats. I am not sure what processing does but my guess is that it diminishes phytases and leaves the phytic acid in tact. So soaking is really necessary to activiate the remaining phytases. Personally, if I don’t soak my oats, I get a horrible reaction from them.

and No to all other types of oats. there are other soak methods on the site. using plain yogurt will give a slightly sour dough type of taste.

we all need to increase gelatin in our diets. animal skin, cartilage are sources. the thin membrane attached to an eggs shell works very well also since it has other needed nutrients.

    I use https://greatlakesgelatin.com/
the have the best prices and esp when ordering directly from them.
