Otherwise, the way I read pokerstars site, I'll have to buy some play chips with real money to get rolling. I don't like that idea much, not that serious about playing. better uses for my real play money.

I'll start playing tsp tables once I got enough hardwon chips to sit at a tsp table. My strategy edumacation starts with a free book available at pokersites.com. Meanwhile, you big dogs have at it.
alevin, have no fear, you get 1000 chips for free. And if you lose all of them, they re-up you back to 1000 chips for free, without limit. I think there may be a time limit... Ask burro, he seems to know all about it .

I've never paid for chips, and I don't think anyone else here has either, unless they wanted to do more than just for fun.

Although for $2, 350K would last a long, long time if you stick to 1k tournaments. Like possibly a life time.

ok, there are 10 members of the TSP Poker Club now so that is good. if you can make the sunday tournament that would be great, but not required. days and times might be changed next week to accommodate a majority preferred schedule.

also, i think i have this poker playing thing figured out now. at any given time when i buy in at a table i could be sitting next to a liar, a forensic accountant, a hustler, a bully, a mom, a savant, or the luckiest person to ever walk god's green earth. and that was just person sitting to my right! i didn't have enough chips or time to try to figure out the other 7 players.

Guess I missed the play this pm. I had to go grocery shopping. Now that's done, I watched the pokerstar videos and got a little better understanding of how the software and resupply works. 1000 is not 1050. Am going to follow UQs advice and wait to play tournament until gotten some cash games under my belt, get enough of my own chips to enter the tournament when I think I've learned a little more than refresher on the basics. Pokerstars rules say no begging for chips, so I won't be doing that. I know UQ said he'd be willing to front the extra 50 to any who don't have it yet, but I'd rather work the cash games for now, gain some skills first. never played texas holdem before, think the last time I played it was 5card stud. long ago.

I see there are now 2 ring games in the club area. what's the dif between the 5/10 ring game and the 25/50 game? Are those the small and big bid required's at each game? It's winterthyme and it's dark out, I'll be making thyme to play, since I can't make my garden grow for another couple months yet.

the only real difference between the tables is some donk or two can get 5 times luckier on you 5 times faster is all. the secret joke is (shhhh, it's all free pretend money!) but some folks take it very serious.

Exactly! Small and Big Blinds. Normally, as the minimum blind goes up, so too does the min. and max. [INITIAL] bankroll limits for the table. I don't recall if that's the case here though. burro may remember how he set them up.

Just found this. Some folks may be more comfortable practicing alone first:

Neo Poker Bot - Advanced Poker AI

Improve your game with Neo Poker Coach!
I've never tried it except for a few heads up hands a minute ago, so I can't vouch for it. It's free, but you have to register for all of the play options, I believe.
