Thread: poker?

    Default poker?

    poker. or, things i wish...

i wish internet poker was still not ambiguously legal or not.
i wish there was a poker house skin one could sign up for and play 'fun' games for make believe points that only would matter to serious players of the group with no cash value. and not be just some random freeroll. kind of like a football pool among friends, for pride.
i wish my job allowed me to play for real money, but i have sworn an oath and i cannot anymore. (but just so you know i sometimes win at that game, and other times i just get lucky).
i would love it if there was a way to create a private invitation only tsptalk poker club that could play over the web. on a legitimate poker house skin, for points not money. i would take that very seriously. because i know i can outplay most, if not all, of you.

i bet there is a way. do any call?

You swore to never play poker for the job?

I used to play at the World Series of Poker Site after the online poker crackdown years ago. You play for prizes and seats to qualifying rounds towards the WSOP...or at least that's how it used to work. Now I play live every now and then.

(I'm sure I can get around the online restrictions...if I really wanted to. Bodog(?) used to allow US players even after the crackdown; you just had to fund with the right gift card.)

You download the software onto your computer so it's faster than just web-based. I'm trying to set it up now, as I'd love an opportunity to school you.

EDIT: This version is web-based now.

i cannot play for real money. and i cannot break any laws. that is my oath. i hold a position in which my integrity is crucial, if not my judgment always perfect. it was not always this way, but it is now. so i play by the rules, which pretty much makes that your lucky day.

Well, this poker is legal. They only allow two states to play for real money.

You can play live poker at a casino, I assume?

yes. but i don't. because appearances out here are as good as fact. it is not like hillary can say i never sent material that was classified at the time, even though she did and everybody knows she did on purpose just the email headers go edited by a non-clearance aide. i cannot do that. my integrity demands i avoid even the appearance of evil. both for my job, and for my soul. so i can only play for free. but i will still kick your ass.

So you can't play for free on free poker websites either?

I just played a few hands...now I remember why I stopped playing freerolls.

Is there a fee to play for points? Like registration fees for example? I'll kick both your butts.

i bet there is a way to create a 'pool' like with the nfl tsptalk pool, that lets only members play, for free. and maybe it host regular games, like a sit n go 9 person or something. or maybe a weekly all hands in tournament. i would schedule time to play. and i would take you to the cleaners, gently sometimes even, just to keep you on the hook.

Yeah...I see they have a "buddy" feature. Not sure how it works. But I'll look into this legal, free, online poker thing this weekend to try and find a good solution for us tsptalkers.

As much as it pains me, I know to leave that alone.
