Never said it did....Let's see if I can simplify this for you, before you turn this into a full blow argument...Nicotine does not give you cancer, true, but it comes in tobacco which does...Coffee gives you caffeine, which doesn't give you cancer...ergo, my comparison with coffee..

Just in case you missed my corrected statement..

    What the heck?

E-cigarettes contain up to 10 times carcinogens: Japan research

By Harumi Ozawa November 27, 2014 6:50 AM

E-cigarettes contain up to 10 times the level of cancer-causing agents in regular tobacco, Japanese scientists said Thursday, the latest blow to an invention once heralded as less harmful than smoking.

The electronic devices -- increasingly popular around the world, particularly among young people -- function by heating flavoured liquid, which often contains nicotine, into a vapour that is inhaled, much like traditional cigarettes but without the smoke.
Researchers commissioned by Japan's Health Ministry found carcinogens such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in vapour produced by several types of e-cigarette liquid, a health ministry official told AFP.
Formaldehyde -- a substance found in building materials and embalming fluids -- was present at much higher levels than carcinogens found in the smoke from regular cigarettes, the official said.[more]

The good thing the e-cig makers know...the users are still hooked on nicotine...

Read that yesterday myself. Health tradeoffs always, so long as a person remains hooked.

The hysteria caused by the article you posted is because of the following:

    1. The liquid manufacturers are not regulated in this study.
    2. The tests are done on a "sample" of Chinese manufactured liquid.
    3. There are tests with results provided by "all US manufactured" liquids.

Believe it or not, many steps in the U.S. have been taken due to the fact that to sell most products, one's butt better be covered.

And to you Buster, yes, many people have the habit, but my wife uses her vapor device with NO nicotine!

So, I disregard the Japanese report. I also add warning. This new craze requires having concentrated substances, if not used properly, will cause issues. About the same as leaving a bleach bottle or loaded gun under the kitchen sink. Kids need to be supervised. So, no perfect world here.

Not to sound argumentative, but that apears like a waste of money, so what's the point then?

Not really, it satisfies her never ending addiction response with one that she enjoys....plus, she uses vanilla and cinnamon flavors and it keeps the snacking urge away as well....

Definitely, not argumentative. Inquiring minds want to know!

    I'll chime in

Just for the record, I smoked cigarettes for 25 years, switched to cigars 4 years ago, then went to vaping 3 years ago. My vaping budget is about 5-6 hundred a year max, prior to that I was spending about 2K a year on cigs.

That's a cherry-picked story, anyone's who's been in this game for awhile, knows China's quality control is lacking. Most of us veteran vapors use American companies and severely dislike the taste of China's e-liquid. Basically, it's comprised of 4 ingredients.

    1) Propylene Glycol
    2) Glycerine
    3) Nicotine
    4) Flavoring

The first 3 are proven to be non-carcinogenic and can be purchased online at pharmaceutical grade quality, the flavoring you add to that is what's in question. If you don't like or trust the source, it is extremely easy to make it yourself, I've done it (proving it's easy).

Whatever floats your boat, each to his own, if you'd rather someone smoke cigarettes than vape, than I can honesty say I believe this to be a bad trade. I wrote a research paper for a college class, my decisions are based off my research, each individual should research this themselves and come to their own conclusion.

I realize there are haters out there, I know people who think it's a stupid habit, but some of those same people drink multiple red-bull style energy drinks, coffee, or consume too much soda. I don't vape indoors in public places because I want to be respectful to those who may not like the smell or want vapor drifting in their faces. From my perspective, if what I'm doing doesn't cause you harm, then leave me alone, and I will do the same for you.

i'm with jth and frixxxx on this one. once i figured out a hardware setup that works for me and tried a few brands of eliquids to narrow quality and flavors down, the health and economic factors of not smoking tobacco are off the charts.

instead of $6.50 per pack at 1.5 packs per day for $250-$300 per month, i am max $50 per month to vape. and i can breath again.

u.s. made liquids only with test batch info available on each lot i purchase. i have no doubts that vaping is far safer than smoking. and i don't stink any more either, at least not because of cigarettes anyways.

i use ego-t batteries with kanger mt3s tanks and 2.5 ohm coils exclusively. i keep 4 batteries and 8 tanks ( 2 each 4 flavors) in rotation. vape 4 tanks and refill while vaping other 4 tanks. breakdown, clean, inspect coils once per week. kave built me a cool box/stand vaping station to do it all on.

the best 2 companies i've found i like for quality eliquids are v2 and vaporfi. anything sahara is my favorite, just the right amount of 'kick'.
