Thread: Is there a form available for Social Security questions?

Default Is there a form available for Social Security questions?

I receive about $1400 a month from civil service retirement. My wife receives about $4500 a month from civil service retirement. She is not eligible for Social Security. I am eligible for $2200 a month at age 66 and four months. Will I be affected by the windfall profits elimination or government offset?

Not really but there is a lot of SS info spread out in the retirement threads. There is one short one under Claiming your Social Security retirement benefit but was about the month to start the benefit coming in. Be aware that the month you start receiving benefits will be paid the following month, date depends on your birth date.

If you haven’t already, go to https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/?utm_s...ntent=eservice and create an account. The wife should do the same to make sure she is not eligible.

Next, go to https://www.tsptalk.com/mb/retirement-and-ira-talk/ and post a new thread named “29year’s retirement questions” or something like that. I suggest starting a new thread so you can easily find it later. Post a few details about your retirement (you did actually, getting OPM annuity, wife getting OPM annuity, you are FERS but post them again in your new thread) Ask your specific questions in your thread and someone will answer if we know based on our own experiences or try to point you to answers.

I see you are going on 21/2 years being retired. I hope you are enjoying it.

    PO
