    Default Annuity supplement earnings***does monthly tsp payment count as income ??????????????

    I am RETIRED LE and I get the SS/OPM supplement. I got a 2010 ANNUITY SUPPLEMENT EARNINGS REPORT in the mail today requesting to know if I earned MORE than $14,160. after retirement earnings.

    I get the three part FERS retirement;

    Annuity
    TSP
    Supplement

    Someone please advise if my TSP payments count with respect to the yearly earnings test ($14,160.) ?

    Thanks

    I believe the earnings test is in regards to earned income - your SS will be reduced if you make over a certain amount working. Once you get to 70 there no longer is this silly test. Your TSP does not count as earned income.

    I do think you are at that level when you reach your full SSA Retirement age as far as Social Security goes.
    The Federal Government taxes everything but some of social Security is exempt depending on your income. Some States don't tax SSA and Federal retirement, I believe that includes your TSP. Go to your States Department of Revenue Home Page and they have the info. Georgia for instance doesn't tax the first $35,000 of earned income.

    Minor correctrion is in order here.

    The $14160 earned income limitation goes away at your FULL SS age what ever that is. For me it's 66. After 66, and if I'm still working (god forbid), the test (the 2 for 1 penelty) goes away. For older folks than myself it's 65, and for younger it's 67 at the moment.
