Default Question On Survirorship Election's Effect On Survirors FEHB Coverage

The answers probably right there but I sure can't seem to find it so here goes. We are in the process of deciding if it's better for my FERS retirememt election to cover survivorship with life insurance rather than electing one of the payment percentage options. I heard somewhere that by not selecting at least one of the partial payment options that her FEHB coverage would drop in the event I take a dirt nap. Can someone clarify that rule for me or better yet shoot me a link.

Here's another question I need clarified. I understand that due to the odd 27th pay period that I can retire on 12 Jan and not lose my built up Use / Lose AL. I understand I won't get paid till 3/1 which is fine by me. The question is how they figure the annuity. The website says it would be figured as of 2/1/13. Does that mean that going out in January is going to beat me out of 2 weeks of retirement pay ? I wanted to hang around for another holiday, a couple Sunday's,the additional days AL and 2 more weeks of CBP's 20% night differential but if I'm losing a half months retirement Ferget it!!!!!! What's the deal with this one. I can't deal with calling Rabbis, it took them 2 weeks to call me back the last time and still couldn't get it straight that I was Fers not CSRS.
The joke's over and I am outa there. Now someone else can save the world. Somebody please remind my rich uncle not to forget his end of the deal

To keep health insurance you will have to take survivor of 25% or 50%.

The best way to not skip a monthly check is to retire the last day of the month. Say dec31 and first check will be feb1. If you retire jan12 your first check will be march 1.

This is, of course, to the best of my knowledge from when I retired from fers. Csrs is a little different.
