The only thing I hate about laptops is that they seem to break down after a year or two. I have 3 that are locked up and don't know what to do with them.

Thats why I get the 400 dollar vs the 1000 ones. For that money it's not so bad. Another little trick I learned at the point of my wallet was the secret of the SN of your operating system. You need the SN off that sticker on the bottom of the machine to get it fired up if it's completely locked. No more installation disks right????? Thanks a lot. TROUBLE IS, they have it on the bottom where that tiny number gets smeared. Makes you wonder why they put them there doesn't it? Just like making thin exaust pipe for your car when the OEM lasted 10 years plus. Anyways transcribe that number to a piece of take up inside under the battery or otherwise safe place s you don't wind up with a dead Dell like me.
As for the run time don't forget the newer ones are starting to come out with LED backlights. I have no experience with these at all but if they work as well as other LED's your battery consumption simply has to drop tremendously. Even the newer cheapo's like mine without LED last an hour and a half. I run mine like a U boat. Don't keep it charging all the time to minimize all the snagging and bending on the cable and just plug it in when it hits the warning or I am done whichever comes first. Works pretty well and I only have to order a new power cord a couple times a year now it seems.
The joke's over and I am outa there. Now someone else can save the world. Somebody please remind my rich uncle not to forget his end of the deal

Thanks for the complement but please don't confuse me with someone who knows what he is doing. Rather I am SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN and those little snippets some were paid dearly for. Strangely you don't see much about little things like these on the computer sites and boards. There is nothing I like to do more than pass on free info no matter who it benefits to keep them from getting ripped off. I'm not Clark Howard yet but working on it. For $200 you should be able to surf anything you like and still not cry too loud if someone knocks a soda onto the keyboard.......... One last thing I just found myself doing with my HP;s today. Watch how you leave them laying around on beds, blankets on their sides ect. Try to leave the vent's free of obstruction. Most of em get plenty hot just sitting there charging ect.

That is an excellent buying price for a Gateway Netbook. This model usaually costs $300 for a N270 Atom processor Netbook with similar features. It also has wireless 802 b/g? What does it weigh?

I seem to miss all those
Did you sign up on a board, or just happen on it?

I was going to suggest an iPad Gen1.
Several of my work friends have them and I'm always impressed.
The bluetooth keyboards are great, as well the drive is flash memory.

That GW sounds great though, at about 1/2 the price of a 3G/WiFi Gen1 with all the protection you would need.

    Nice snag!
