Not to sound like sour grapes, but I think there may be a better way to score a pool like this. Currently, you can pick the winner, 2nd, and 3rd correctly, but if 2 of your players don't make the cut, and in some cases by a stroke or two, you're done.

This week a few players who made the cut by a stroke or two, came back over the weekend and made a run toward the leaders. It becomes more about who you didn't pick, then who you did. I knew by Friday, I had no chance and it kind of took the fun out of it for me over the weekend.

I haven't come up with anything in particular, but I thought incorporating the betting odds somehow, to add bonus points for picking long shots.

Any ideas?, or do you like it as is?

I'm open to new ideas, but haven't come across anything yet that is comparable.

i think if would be fairer, and a whole lot more fun, if obgibby wasn't allowed to play anymore. but he should definately keep being in charge of the spreadsheets.

I picked the 4 out of 5 format because that is the format high school and college uses for their golf tournaments
If a pro misses the cut he receives no money...he actually loses money...flight and hotel costs...I think they also have to pay an "entry" fee just to play even if they qualify for the tournament

he should be punished for being so successful...how dare he...he couldn't have won twice without Tom creating the website, myself introducing the pool, some chinamen creating his computer, his parents for making him, somebody obviously introduced him to golf, he couldn't even watch the golf without having a tv which a store let him buy...how did he get to best buy...in a car the union made and on roads he didn't build....disgusting...he should be ashamed of himself

Keep it down you fools! The last thing we need is the liberal crowd on this Board to see us reveling in our freedom of having a good time before they come over to tell us we should be ashamed of ourselves, worthy of increased taxes and wealth redistribution, and they'll start clamoring to shut us down.

    First CONGRATS to OB!
Second, i think picking 7 players and using score of best 4 would increase the odds of everyone having four picks make the cut.
I like scoring better than position tracking but doesnt matter either way but scoring is also much easier if tracked by strokes over/even/under.
For example if your four picks finish at +2, +2, E (even), -1 then your final score is +3. If all four picks play well, i can almost do the math in my head....: )

True, and with using +/- par scoring (instead of total strokes), you can even use those who missed the cut. If they were +8 and missed the cut, it stays +8.

but you should get rewarded for picking a guy who makes the cut vs. someone who doesnt..a playe who makes the cut at+8 might end up+10...vs. someone who missed the cut at +8...not right

we should score our pool with the players score relative to par...+2, E, -2 instead of the place they finish...that would be easier to keep track of...but there has to be a penalty for picking someone who misses the cut...if we decide to still pick 5 golfers, 5 more strokes should be added to a MC...if we increase our picks to say 7, we add on 7 more strokes...having to pick 10 golfers and taking the best 8 could be more interesting...I would vote for that
