There really are some good options in the list. The question is, will that fund provide something TSP doesn't already provide?

Traders - beware the redemption fees. Usually you'll be hit with a fee if you sell within 3-6 months. Be sure to read any prospectus information before buying.

There are some inverse and leveraged mutual funds on the list, that's different...and kind of surprising, at least to me.

These high fees are criminal. I’d hoped that the MFW would give me access to asset classes not available amongst the core funds; however, I can’t justify these fees when a Schwab, Fidelity or other brokerage will provide access these funds at a fraction of the costs.

I guess what I am looking at is the ability to put my TSP money (which I cannot access any other way without penalty) into mutual funds that are sectors/areas not covered by the C, S, and I. For example Precious metals, energy, and real estate. In this current market, so far only 12 out of 960 TSP Talk traders have been able to outperform the G fund this year. Perhaps some of the mutual funds that have actually had gains this year (or less losses?) are accessible through the window. Yes costs will offset some gains but there is no other way to leverage the thousands in my TSP otherwise if the C, S and I are all falling hard.

The question I have is why are the fees so grossly high compared to what any individual can buy? All of the major brokerage firms are incredibly cheap compared to these rippoff fees. Federal employees represent a huge pool of customers so we should command much lower fees than what an individual can get in the free market. My question is why are not more people talking about this and why did we end up with such a horrible deal? Who selected this company? Was it some panel of individuals? Can anyone tell me how this happened? Does anyone know the inside story on this or how can I go about finding it out? I want to try to shine some sunlight on this ripoff.

Yes, I have been saying the same thing. The world is trading on 0% commissions.

Well, we got a new website that i think most participants didn't need, or want. I bet someone who knows someone, made a bunch of $$ for the 'upgraded' site. So this looks to me to be just another opportunity to take advantage of people with limited options while in the TSP.
