Sounds like the senate is onboard with the pres. Is the congressional vote still on mon? Its tough counting on a group that enjoys a 13% approval rating.
I don't mean to get political here, and I am only looking at this from a "MrBowl's TSP balance" standpoint. I believe FWM was posting from a "FWM's TSP balance" as well so it didnt feel like sparring to me, just discussing opinions on what might happen.
We shall see. One day we will look back on this period and say the signs of what to do were so obvious, just like when I look back at 2008 now.

Darn! We agree on something that's a first.![]()
Haha. The Tea Partiers and the anti-war dems are together on this, in addition to the left and right on this forum.
What's next, a joint Yankee-Red Sox family picnic?
This seems to be a high risk, low return environment.
Too many potential Black Swans flying around.
Maybe even a kick from the FED Reserve.
What a mess...
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
FWM,
The Ruskies might not be our drinking buddies, but we can have a drink with them rather than getting in some dumb@ss gun battle.
Now, Syria and Iran... Not so much...
What would happen if one of the Iranian 'advisers' or one of the self-sufficient Iranian paramilitary groups lobbed a false flag American or European missile(s) at one of the Ruskie ships? Why do most of us think this CW attack was Syrian government and the rest think it is a selfie from a breakaway group. Might it not be a relatively trained unit from Iran? What a mess...
The beginning of WWI was all about sending messages. So was Vietnam. Lots of message sending, not much accomplished.
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
FWM,
We have no carriers in the region. Half the fighting force of the Marine Corps is sitting in a land-locked region of the world with adversaries on all sides covered by carrier based air power in the Indian Ocean. To move one of those carriers means that things might get dicey if our Marines got to fight their way out. Kinda dumb to put all those Marines in a land-locked and mountainous country - but, there it is!!!
Financially, Syria is just a buying target - as you are stating. It has no importance. Actually, the Suez Canal has very little importance nowadays. So, there is little real affect financially. But, those that lose money will always find some reason to lose money. Conversely, leaving the turd Assad in power - or worse, setting up another 1990's era Afghanistan - will be a major problem. After dithering for over two years the only ending I see is one of those two results. So, bad news at some future unknown date.
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
Has anyone else noted that...
After 2.5 years of conflict there are as many civilian fatalities in Syria as there have been in 10 years of conflict in Iraq...
Just saying...
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
How many died on the Government side in Syria, you never see these numbers, I wonder why? Just asking?
