Re: separating (not retiring) and TSP

Lord, no, I'm not planning to cash it out. I'm wondering about putting part of it into an IRA, just as if I were leaving one civilian job for another and deciding whether to move my retirement funds...

Re: separating (not retiring) and TSP

Whoops, where I wrote 401(K), I meant to say IRA.

I saw that there are a few posts similar to this on the Questions board. If a mod thinks this thread would do better over there, please feel free...

    separating (not retiring) and TSP

    Hi, everyone--

I am escaping the wacky world of federal employment this Friday! --at least temporarily. I am still waiting (ha) for HR to send my materials on what I can do with my TSP account. As...

    Re: tsp.gov beta

It popped up on my laptop several times, but I was too busy at the time to watch through it, and now it's gone, dang it.

I figure it can't possibly be worse than the current version.

  5. Re: TSP L Fund 2040 versus USAA 2040 Target Fund which is betters

Just a comment/ question: aren't the income fund and high-yield opportunities fund bonds? You had said that there wasn't a bond component of the USAA 2040. If I read this correctly, there is. :)

    Re: Personal Investment Peformance (PIP)?

Yeah, that Q16 does seem to imply that the contributions are included:

...and on the timing and amount of your purchases (e.g., contributions)...
I mean, what a wonderfully vague statement! What...

    Re: Personal Investment Peformance (PIP)?

Well, two different opinions, both from people who know what they're talking about!

God forbid that TSP would post an explanation somewhere on the site.

Also, is there a way of digging...

    Re: Personal Investment Peformance (PIP)?

So, tell me, is it too much to hope that our PIP is in fact the net increase or decrease in the value of our investments? --that it does not include our contributions and matching contributions?

how TSP funds fit into % stocks/ % bonds

I have a question which I can't figure out if it's subtle and brilliant, or really, really stupid.

When reading personal finance advisors, they usually recommend percentage allocations of...
  11. Re: proportion of C and S funds to imitate total US market index

Thanks for the breakdown on the 5000! Still not sure that I want to do anything with this, but I've been looking at a lot of sample portfolios, and it's maddening the lack of opportunities we have in...
  12. proportion of C and S funds to imitate total US market index

    Hey, everyone--

I could swear I read this somewhere... once... , but after a lot of Googling, I can't find it anywhere.

The idea was that a total US market index fund (Wilshire 5000) isn't the...

    Re: Hi, everyone!

And I will, as soon as I figure out what's being automatically tracked! Is it my own TSP investments, threads that I'm reading, or what? (I'm guessing investments, but time will tell.)

    As you can...

    Hi, everyone!

Just blundered across this site while trying to find a way to track the mysterious F fund!

I pretty much leave my stuff where it is and let it grow, rearranging every 3 months or so, but I've...
