Will the TSP board in 2012 allow us to roll part of the existing TSP into the ROTH TSP. It woudl be nice to pay the taxes in 2012 and let it grow tax free.
I too have asked them, I faxed them 6 times asking them to respond about the Roth and received no responce as well.
Good Old #4 will make one last run at the big one. Viking will win it thanks to Brett.
Its in the senate now and the TSP board supports it but said it would take 12-18 months to start. My guess it would start 1-1-2011
Its a no brainer, stop the TSP and Maximumize the Roth. If you have any left then put it in the TSP. You being overseas, you dont pay federal taxes on that money. Money invested in TSP if you are...
If you are retired from the govt but still working somewhere else, you can take a one time withdrawal and transfer to an IRA, then convert some/all of it into a Roth.
My wife has a 403B plan with the Roth Option. She can have her money put in a list of fund either Roth, or non roth. Both are the exact same funds with the same ticker and it would be the same as...
The Million Dollar question is how long after Obama signs the bill will it take the TSP board to give us the option. I cant wait. If they open up the TSP to other fund choices and give us the ROTH,...
the question is how long will it take the TSp to add it. They do things very very slow. Hopefully it will be up and running before the end of the year if we are lucky, but I doubt it.

It was nice to see the Repulician party which has been in hiding the past six years wake up and put the Obama is his place and say not so fast. I sure hope it fails, the spending includes so much...
If you contribute to the TSP from combat pay, that is suppose to be kept seperate in the TSP. When you withdraw that money (not earnings on that money), it wont get taxed since it was invested tax...
The automatic rate of return? GO toss your money in the G fund if you want that, otherwise no way to stay up with inflation over your career.
Another item you need to take into considering is the double taxation on the interest expense. Say you borrow 10,000 and pay it back plus 500 in interest. The 500 was already taxed out of your pay...
Why havent they given us the roth option already. With the market down so much, great time to invest with tax free withdrawal.
You should really look at the Humana HMO. I live in Chicago and 90% of the doctors appear to be part of the plan. It is one of the cheapest plans, no deductable and small co pays.
