Re: Why do you hate annuities

Thank you for the replies. I'm quite supprized that there are only 2 responses, and neither are negative. I just read this thread:

    Re: Supplement qustiion

Thanx so much. I think this is my answer. I'm still a little leary as it says "your social security benefits." I wish it said your supplement, but I'm probably overthinking.

    Why do you hate annuities

Ok, I've read a couple of threads that really don't like annuities. I've also gotten advice from friends to avoid annuities. My first thought is that if smarter people than I don't like annuities;...

I receive a supplement to my federal pension until I turn 62. The supplement is contingent depending on how much income I have from outside work during the year. At some point (last I heard, it was...

Re: How much am I allowed to earn in retirement?

Yes, evilanne, I'm talking about the supplement. No reason to come to work for 1/2 or less what I'm getting. I'm 58 and retired mandatory at 57, so I don't believe that this affects my social...

    Re: TSP Tax Question

Long delay here, but I wanted to wait until I got my first "all solar" bill before checking back.

My bill was only the 12.00 for being connected to the grid. I also banked 233 KWH. These are...

    Re: TSP penalty for withdrawl

Thanx, PO. They do pay the federal inmates; my crew got .12 an hour :)

I will let you guys know on the solar. If what they tells me holds true, I should see a net savings from day one of more...

    Re: TSP penalty for withdrawl

    You misunderstood me, Bullitt.

My issue was with the word MIGHT, meaning I might be exempt from the penalty. I'm hoping it's for sure.

    Re: TSP penalty for withdrawl

@ Scout. Just worried about the penalty, the tax would be eaten up by my solar credit.

@bullitt. Install is done, I'm just waiting on the power company to put in a bi-directional meter for it to...

    TSP penalty for withdrawl

I'm a 58 year old retired Federal Law Enforcement.

I've heard that 59 1/2 is the cut off for penalty on withdraw.

Does that apply to law enforcement; I've heard that it does not.

    thanx

    TSP Tax Question

I'm retired (since June of 2020) and have not touched my TSP. I'm guessing that my tax liability right now will be about 6k the next time I do taxes as it's just my pension and a part time job.
