The regular room was too small for the work the therapists needed to be working with him, then someone got discharged from the Orthopedic floor today & he got moved. He walked about 80 feet, with wheeled walker, the therapist, the gait belt, and the portable O2, which is still having difficulty maintaining a > 90%. Apparently this is the first `out-in-the-hall' ambulation with the new knee. Their spirits are really good, up -

SkyPilot was discharged to home this afternoon...no O2, no CPM, ..... The doctors told them to consider this a miracle...even just going home... They are sending many grateful thank yous to all who have been and are continuing to pray for him..

Thanks grandma for the update. I guess SkyPilot has a real mission to be part of.
May the force be with us.

Hey There! Thanks for all the prayers and kind thoughts, and especially for Grandma who so faithfully updated this thread. I think we are "out of the woods" now. The physical therapy torture is going well and the respiratory issues seem to be well in hand. As to why this misadventure happened, it is a mystery. I do know this, if you are going to undergo any procedure, be sure to have someone that can advocate for you as you will be unable to ascertain what is happening due to surgery trauma and medication. My wife probably saved my life as she was the only one who was watching the continuity of care. I have met several others who have had much the same experience, enough that it causes me to pause with regard to considering if I should have the other knee done if the time comes.

In any case, I truly do thank you for your support. It was more than just kind sentiments, as I literally could sense a rising tide of spiritual intervention. And I am so glad to be retired and able to prepare to pursue our interests and passion.

Thank you God for this good life you have given us...

Grandma, I just wanted to make a specific thank you for your tremendous care you have extended to my wife Patricia and myself. This has been an experience like none other, and has moved my belief and faith from the "academic" to the realm of practical application. I am now better prepared to be present with others who suffer in crisis. I am so grateful for the faith and belief we share in our Lord and Savior, and am humbled by the fellowship of the saints that we find outside the walls of our respective houses of worship, even to the connections we make in forum boards.

While the interest that gathers us here is financial, I am reminded that our true treasures are not those which we will someday leave here, but those which we lay up for ourselves which are eternal.

    Blessings,
