Thread: SkyPilot's Retirement Story

Just learned one simple weird trick to enhance my retirement account! Click here ______ to learn this secret!

Just kiddin'... however, I just had a fellow BOP retiree give me a heads up on a tax strategy. He said to make sure I bump up my deductions so I do not get killed with taxes on my annual leave/comp time cash out. Sweet!

And then I thought, hey! Bump up my TSP contributions as I will not be maxing them out as I am retiring in the middle of the year. As I do not need the cash for the next couple of months, all that salary goes into TSP thus reducing my taxable income to near zero and still get the matching 5% on top of it.

A good strategy for those retiring in the middle of the year.

I also get to spend the full years FSA medical, but only paying in Jan through June, coming out $1,250 ahead on that deal as well (using it all up on the knee surgery).

At the moment SkyPilot is quite ill in the hospital. The knee replacement earlier this week went well, however he had a sudden respiratory destruct, and was moved to ICU. For those of you who are Believers in the Resurrection Power of Jesus the Christ, please pray for his total healing & recovery, so he & his wife can get on with their lives.
