+1 with a great big huge thank you!
WOW, see how much faster things run when Tom deletes all the negativity out of the political threads?
Fastest I've seen this run!
THIS IS WHERE I WOULD PUT SOMETHING TO REPRESENT MY THINKING, BUT THEN THEY SHOW UP!
Tracker = Check my position
I've been meaning to ask Tom if there is some other tracker-type program that can handle these request. Perhaps the excel was never meant to handle this type of multi-tasking.

It was probably me who caused the problem. When the site was running sluggishly earlier, I tried to run some scripts to clean things up and the next thing you know, the site is down.
I am trying to come up with a plan to get by this bottle neck. We seem to have plenty of processing power, but once we get close to the deadline and everyone is checking the autotracker, things get a little too heavy for the servers. I may end up moving the autotracker to another domain name like tsptalk.net or something.

I am not too concerned about getting another t-shirt to shove in some dresser drawer, the new dresser drawer that I bought just to hold all the crappy t-shirts that I've bought; ie, sports, concerts(the Who, the Stones,etc., vacations, etc. I do need to work at off-site buildings on some days, and the out-lying buildings don't have any net hookups, (security).

That is the intent - 10 minutes should be plenty of time, but lately people have been having problems getting their IFT into the tracker at that time because of system issues. The new deadline just provides a buffer, but you are right, some may procrastinate because of the buffer causing more problems.

You'd be surprised. It's more of an ego thing than getting a T-shirt. Rarely has anyone ever asked me to change their IFT when the change hurts their return.
I recommend that people still use the excel spreadsheets to track their actual returns. That's what is important. The AutoTracker is really just a game and a tool to help others watch what others are doing.
Thanks for the input folks!
Tom,
I'm starting to see a little bit of a slow down here and there. I have an idea. How about shutting down all none market talks starting at 30 mins to the deadline.
Anybody else thinks this would help?

That could help, but it would be tough to do. I still have an open support ticket with the hosting tech team to keep an eye on what is happening.
This board is big, but there are some that are so much bigger. I am wondering what they do to keep things running smoothly. We have two servers and I can't imagine it is not enough for our modest board activity. The one thing we have that is different than most boards, is that 1 to 2 hour high traffic peak time.
