He said keep working hard after the Get any sleep comment. I was to sick in the stomach to add the get any sleep comment...how very cruel?

Also when I see him going around talking about social security reform it appears he is talking to a bunch of six graders...not adults.

When you hear those over 55 are ok. That means those under 55 better lube up.

What I do not understand is that you complain that the board has lost its focus since we (I?) are not talking about investing, then you misquote and bash the President about something that has nothing to do with investing, economy, etc. This is related to TSP how?

You do not know the context of the conversation, you cannot extract one sound-bite and formulate a conclusion. What was said prior to this? Where did the conversation go afterwards?

I suppose it's Bush's fault that woman is a divorced mother of three? Did he handicap the child, too? Did he cancel her health insurance? So now I am supposed to pay for it? If you cannot afford kids, then don't have them! (We need a license to get married, right? Why not a license to have children, too?)

Even bigger picture the govt "borrows" from the TSP funds also. 20 years from now I do not want to hear the TSP "lock box" is empty and thank you for your management fee.

For investing...I am trying to say that you should plan on not having social security or TSP in the future...because the money is in the same "lock box".

Stop and put yourself in that womens position and having your President make fun of your situation. She has to work three jobs to provide for her family. Ha ha, I guess...life is a big joke.

SS is a tax and I agree with you on that; I do not consider it in my retirement planning. This has been mentioned on the board recently, butperhaps the quips and jibes got you so emotional that you missed it.

I do not agree with you on not having TSP funds in the future. It is not a tax, it is an option, and it is managed by Barclay's.

I voted for this President. I want him to balance our budget and not try to rule the world.

Social security is a contribution...not a tax...just like a TSP contribution.

If the gov borrows from social security AND TSP I do not see the benefit of having private accounts unless they do not want to pay the benefits that were promised when we paid in. I have contributed to social security for 22 years...it is a little hard to swallow that my benefits are going to drop 50%.

Just let me keep the contribution and invest it myself and not shove it in a "lock box" that has a hole in the bottom.

American's listens and trust their government. Not only are they lieing to us they are now lieing to foreign governments about the bait and switch budget. Here is the budget during the G7 then after the G7 say - here are the add ons! What kind of budget is that? Once again this year we will spend 30% more then we take in. I want a Republic to balance the budget and get our financial house in order. In the last 4 years the dollar has fallen like a stone in sewage. Now we are a vacation hot spot for the rest of the world because of our weak dollar. We are a joke.

But as long as the rich keep their dividend tax cuts and do not have to contribute to social security after $90K of earned income...corporations do not have to pay income tax on foreign earnings...the skies are sunny...from up there...in the ivory tower. The fed rate is at an emergency level and the economy is in the toilet. We are dependent of foreign governments to fund our debts...we are a house of cards that is going to get blown over.

Allsuperpowers have ended with the devaluation of their currency. That is the path we are on now.

I think he can do both...especially with a more rich, heartless Congress. We have two choices: Isolationism (didn't work) and have our fingers in every pie. I totally agree with you on that. Slashing benefits does not "fix" Socialism Security, it just prevents it from being insolvent for a time. It also proves that it is a SHAM, the Raw Deal. :X

Pat, even peoplesuch asWarren Buffett have criticized the recent tax cuts, statingthat the poor and middle class need this cut far more than he does.

This situation will exist as long asmost Americans are fooled by slickads into believing that social security is bankrupt, and that creating huge givebacks to corporations and wealthy Americans will stimulate the economy.

What is this tax cut for the rich? I benefit from the tax cuts and I am by no means rich. The last person I knew to complain about the dividend tax cut for the rich: I later found that every stock he held was a dividend paying stock! (Incidentally, he was the one from whom I found the VLCCF gem.)
