They are making this sound like Le Pen won the election but she actually came in 2nd and it will go into a run off in May. The market was worried about her getting the most votes, but having come in 2nd out of the 5 candidates likely means Macron "should" win easily in May. He is favored 4 - 1 in some betting sites.
Even if Le Pen had gotten the most votes today, there was a good chance that she would have lost the run off because the votes from the other three candidates are more likely going to the more moderate Macron.
So, I believe the market will like this outcome despite the sensational headlines.
