Thread: Permanent Portfolio (PRPFX) vs. Harry Browne Permanent Portfolio vs. ?

  1. Default Permanent Portfolio (PRPFX) vs. Harry Browne Permanent Portfolio vs. ?

    Hello -

I have some non-TSP retirement funds and recently ran across PRPFX and the Harry Browne Permanent Portfolio concept.

Here is a pretty good and succinct explanation of both:
    http://www.investmentu.com/2008/Marc...olio-fund.html

I'm retired and invested some funds in PRPFX (a "lazy portfolio" where it's not necessary to invest in many different funds/ETFs to match the HB PP and worry about rebalancing) because it boasts good returns especially for a conservative allocation fund.

Is there another "lazy portfolio" that is as safe and performs as well?

I'm still learning and wondered what the gurus here thought, including how it fits with TSP allocations.

    Thanks,
    Bob

I've never particularly cared for mutual funds so I built my own fund carrying over 300 individual stocks known as wall flowers - I'll have 90 of them paying dividends in September to be reinvested and that repeats every three months. So every month I'm pulling dividends to be reinvested - that's a nice cash flow to help with my lifestyle. If you check my thread you can see some of my recent DCAing into this base portfolio known as my oceanic account.

Like Birch and others have told me. You don't need a lot of money to start. Do 5 shares at a time each payday. More if you have more to spare..
