Really interesting Jim Cramer Tweets this afternoon. He is watching VIX products going down followed by Margin calls which bring the market up. He says the next one at 2:45 could be big.

Top o' the range again

by tsptalk on Yesterday at 01:11 AM
Stocks rallied again in this very choppy environment. The Dow gained 240-points and every sector in the S&P 500 was positive. At this point investors may be looking for some follow-through, whether that's on the upside, or the downside, because it is easy not to trust any particular day's action.

Rally failure, or just a day a rest?

by tsptalk on 08-21-2019 at 01:13 AM
Stocks ended their 3-day winning streak on another Turnaround Tuesday. We came into the day with more pressure in the market leading FANG stocks after the government reiterated their desire to initiate an antitrust / monopoly investigation on the big tech companies. But the real story was bond yields falling again, and traders have been following the yields almost every day lately, and it was a good excuse to take some profits after the 3-day rally.

Relief rally or is another low in?

by tsptalk on 08-20-2019 at 01:11 AM
We didn't quite close there, but the Dow was on pace earlier for yet another 300-point move on Monday. Some selling into the close pushed it to a +250-point day, so the triple digit streak continued. It was a 1% plus kind of a day across the board, although midcaps stocks lagged a bit impacting the S-fund, and the dollar was up holding back the I-fund. As I said, we did see some late selling that may have investors nervous heading into today. Bond yields were up, and

Volatility has been the story after 5 big triple digit moves for the Dow last week

by tsptalk on 08-19-2019 at 01:11 AM
Friday put a big punctuation mark on a wild week for Wall Street with a 300+ point rally. It was the 4th day of 300 or more point moves for the Dow, and the one day it was only up 100-points, on Thursday, there was a 300 point intraday swing from low to high. It was a week that saw the first, albeit brief, 2/10 year Treasury yield curve inversion in many years. The more economically sensitive small caps and Transports led on the upside with gains near 2%, while the big

The bulls hold off the bears for a day

by tsptalk on 08-16-2019 at 01:16 AM
Although the final numbers may not indicate it, it was another wild day on Wall Street on Thursday. The bulls did have a small victory with the Dow gaining 100-points on the day, but by comparison, it certainly did not getting back much of the 800-points it had lost on Wednesday. The broader indices performed even less impressively with the S&P gaining just 0.25% while small caps and the Nasdaq closed slightly in the red.
