Stocks took a loss this week following three consecutive weeks of gains. The previous week's gains were slim compared to those before so this week's losses were not a change in character. Stock indices spent Monday morning in positive territory and that would be it. A reversal sell-off Monday that was centered around concerns of stimulus negotiations in congress falling apart. This week was not all selling and in fact the S&P 500 added gains the last two days of the trading week.

U.S. stock indices gave back early gains in a choppy week to finally settle with small gains. A rally Monday stretched indices higher following the gains produced the week before. Stocks started the week with gains and maintained those gains through turbulent action to end the weekly losing streak. The C and I-fund produces more than 1.5% in gains this week but we saw rotation back into small cap stocks leaving the S-fund up more than 4%. Tech companies continue to struggle but as did not take entire indices with them. The action was not straight up but rather choppy and ended off the highs after news of President Trump tested positive for Covid-19 sparked some selling Friday.

Easy gains are gone. Its a swing traders market where the market's tone changes day to day and those who play hope to land on the right side of the rallies and corrections. As a whole the market is on a down trend. If you are a buy and holder, paying attention to this market is a sure way to add stress to your life. The stock indices ended the week with a rally but also a fourth consecutive week of losses. A buy and holder should make one of three decisions: step aside and wait for the markets to
