Thanks for the reply, Nasa. I'll tell her to keep an eye on it next year. If she is still around next year, that is. She's not too happy right now working for free while 2/3 of her coworkers got time off for the holidays.

My pay (DOJ) came in on the 30th as it normally does. My scheduled pay day is supposed to be wed (I think) but the deposit always comes in the Saturday before. Finished the year with the scheduled 26 pay checks so tsp donations were exactly where I wanted them.

What are you going to do with your TSP balance when you retire? The argument for leaving it in there has revolved around the lower fees the TSP charges. Here is an article from FedSmith that proposes that the fees aren't really lower if you invest in the same kind of indexes as the TSP funds.

Any thoughts? Something to consider anyways.

S&P500 is bumping up against the 200 DMA again. I'm guessing it can knock but won't be let through yet. Just more of the same sideways direction bouncing between the 200 DMA and 200 EMA.

Quite the push for sure. Nice to see support held up. That adds to support strength for a rainy day.

Well, it's been almost a year since my last move. That's right -- I haven't made a single move in 2019. What can I say; it was a Buy-N-Hold year for me and it paid off. Sure, I could have made even more money trading in this market but you have to know your limitations and my timing is not that good. That being said I don't expect next year to be a Buy-N-Hold year so I'll actually be using some of my 2 IFTs per month. Too bad we can't save up the ones we don't use.

With the market being as high as it is right now, some are getting nervous and pulling out. There's nothing wrong with that. Harvest your profits and have capital to invest another day. As for me, I do better following the trend and that is still up so I'm still invested for now. Also don't let the artificial timing of the calendar fool you. Sure the market is up big for the year but remember that about 10% of that came in January and was merely the bounce back from the 10% loss in December. If you start the year in November or February the market doesn't look as high. So keep that in perspective. Just my 2 cents worth.

Congrats on your buy and hold year.
Can I ask what funds you were in?

I was in the S Fund all year. The C Fund is the winner right now, but the S Fund was in the lead until August. I've been waiting for it to catch up but it may not if it is presaging a coming economic downturn.

    Potential Drawbacks to the TSP

Nothing in the article bothered me but your mileage may vary.
Things to consider when you separate anyways.
