Good golly- that is ONE UGLY CHART right there, isn't it?

Just blew through support levels this morning.

I'm thinking its not looking good for a while.

I capitulate. Something terrible is happening. I’m on the sidelines for safety. 90% G and 10% L income, because the market is about to thunk really hard.

Yes Tom, even the hair says so.

Now is a good time to review, and discuss, the differences between a simple market pullback; a "correction", and a "bear market".

We don't have enough information yet to know what is going on- but it certainly is acting like more than our normal market correction. Of course, we've had a LONG run upwards- but the lack of any solid pushback in last ten days or so means this is a good time to go review our definitions, so we are all understanding and have common ideas around what the different terms mean.

Here is a good primer on the differences between a simple market correction, and a real "BEAR MARKET", for you to think about: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bearmarket.asp

    Enjoy.

I have no idea how this will end up, but to put things into perspective, we had a larger point decline in February (red bar), and so far a similar one to the pullback in March (blue bar)....

Ok- I’m sitting on the sidelines, and dreaming about what I’m gonna do when all this bloodbath is over.

I’m thinking down perhaps another 3-5%, and then we are done. We are NOT quite done yet- but I think we are closer to a short term bottom than not.

And I’m thinking 36-42 foot sailboat in my future.

I’m dreaming, but I’m dreaming of a nice sail.

Any other sail types out here?

    Corbin 39 Pilot House Cutter
    SWELL DISH
    Year: 1984
    Designers: Marion Corbin/Robert Dufour
    Factory built and finish
    Hull #153

The Corbin 39 was the result of an effort to design the ideal boat for serious blue-water cruising. More so than most sailboats, you will find the Corbin in the hands of people who have made extensive blue water passages or were at least planning on doing so, (as was the case of the current owners) until Grandchildren arrived. The Corbins overall length and cutter rig were selected based on the maximum boat that is rigged to easily singlehand. The interior of the Corbin is beautiful with teak throughout and well equipped to provide the kind of storage and functional living space that would be needed by a crew that may be away from a home port for years on end. Seaworthiness is high on the priority list as demonstrated by the boats robust construction, skeg hung rudder, an interior and exterior steering station, always within easy reach are handrails.

This Corbin has been extensively refitted for long term comfort, as demonstrated by installation of Air conditioning, Diesel Heater, Water Maker, Four burner stove & oven with broiler, microwave, TV with DVD player, Upgraded mattress in berth, large fridge and separate large freezer. 199 Corbin's were made with only 15 being factory finished and Swell Dish was one of the 15. Swell Dish is a unique one of a kind beautiful boat, that feels like home on the inside. Extra large flat deck which easily accommodates a couple of lounging chairs and a hammock. She has been loved by her current owners who spared no expense in making her not only a safe but also comfortable home. Swell Dish is ready to take you safely and most certainly comfortably wherever you want to go. This is a unique opportunity to own a spectacular one of a kind sailing vessel, you wont see another like this beauty.

    Nice boat, Frixxxx!

I never heard of a Corbin 39 before- but there are like 6 of them for sale on Sailboatlistings.com

The one you posted is a beauty! Looks like it has all the right gear for cruising, too.

I hope to get something in a year or two- just enough to cruise the Great Lakes for the summer, and then maybe do the great loop - Mississippi to the Gulf. and back up the East Coast, to the Great Lakes again before I die. Then maybe move to the South of France, Spain or Portugal, and live near the ocean for a couple of years if I can.

    One can dream, can’t they?

    Nice boat!

This is my top choice to retire on while still being able to sail it. I wish it was mine, but still sadly waiting for retirement.
