ok- yesterday's solid close, and today's action of NOT plunging back down again, gives me a little confidence that things may have stabilized a bit.

So I am using up my last move of the month to jump back in.

Now going to C=60%, and S=40%.

    Good luck out there!

    Default James48843 Account Talk

    Wouldn’t you know it-

I jump back in, and then spot another very troubling headline tonight-

“GM offers buyouts to 18,000 salaried workers, says layoffs possible”.

I knew auto sales were taking a hit. But 18,000 salaried workforce at GM is a BIG number to get to leave. Biggest buyouts since the bankruptcy in 2008. That hurts.

I hope jumping back in isn’t going to backfire on me. Crossing my fingers now, big time. Let’s hope the declining auto sales, the new tariffs jacking up in November/December, and the rising interest rates don’t kill everything.

Layoffs are good news in the stock / profits world. GM was up 9% on that news Wednesday.

It’s not good news if you are one of the 18,000, or their family.

    Good lord- this is tough.

I am seeing bad indicators from housing = NAHB Housing Index is way down- below expectations. Still at 60, but that is 8 poiints down from last month and a flashing warning for me, especially in New England and Midwest areas.

    Bad- Housing.

General sales are weakening- they were up just 0.3% in October, excluding gasoline, but gasoline prices have since fallen, so the month of November is likely to record actual NEGATIVE sales growth. Which, if it does, is going to shock the markets.

    Dang- what to do?

Should I jump out now? Thinking VERY hard about moving to the safety of "G" for a while, until things become clearer.

I had hit the 700K mark two months ago, and am now significantly below that mark again. Dang. I may just move to safety and wait and see what happens.

Will be taking a breath and making a decision before noon EST today.

Well, I screwed up. I did NOT make the trade today.

I paused at ten minutes before the deadline, and also consulted with my cube mate, and then stared at the mouse. And stared at the mouse. And stared at the mouse.

    Until it was too late.

i KNOW that was a mistake. I should have pushed the button.

But the TSP gurus always say "don't panic, you are in the for long haul", and I didn't jump.

Let's just hope that I didn't just add another five years to my retirement planning......

I"m still in the market 100%.

Been there many times. I'm happy to be on the pad right now. Here we are with 50 minutes left and the markets are all winding for something. Do we do a higher volume move up for the close? Or a toilet bowl? 48 minutes left of this...

Maybe Christmas music starting this week will help this market get in the mood for a Santa Rally! Nothing else has seemed to help.

Ain’t gonna be no Santa Rally this year. I saw Santa our behind the shed gutting Rudolf, and hanging him up on the North Pole.

I know this doesn't help much but most of us have been where you are. Its always darkest before the dawn! Especially in the market you know! The theory is you have already suffered most of the loss and we just know when we get out the market will go crazy!!! LOL Best of luck to us all!

I'm in the same boat. Was up over 12% for the year in September, with a similar balance. Lost it all by November. Made back 4% and if today holds, will be negative for the year. Disappointing.
