It is days like today that I WISH the TSP had "opened a trading window" like Congress authorized them to do.
I would be a mover of a big chunk into precious metals today- both actual hard assets, and into gold/silver stocks or a precious metals mutual fund.

Like....oh, say, the USAA Precious Metals fund. That's where I'd LOVE to put a little chunk of my TSP funds today, if ONLY I had the chance:

My old eyes and past experience say we're at a nice place where we're done getting easy money for a bit- and now we're entering a more turbulent phase with some ups and downs- but in any case, hard assets like Gold and Silver would be steady and increasing value places to put a bit of my money.
Instead, all I can do is sit safely in "G".
PLEASE ...TSP, please "open a window" and allow us to put part of our money into other things besides just the straight stock funds, bonds and G fund security. Give us the ability to see some hard assets, some emerging market funds, some more divserse places to put it.
Good luck.

In Dog Beers I've only had two.
Well, I have been waiting in the sidelines for the last month for the right opportunity to buy back in. I didn't see it. I THOUGHT tomorrow or wednesday was going to be it- because I thought today would be this huge downdraft, and we'd get a nice 3 to 5% pullback over a couple of days.
But darned if those on the sidelines didn't start pouring cash into the market this morning at the first sign of a pause. And BAM! We miss out on any chance of a significant pullback. At least that's how I am seeing it so far today.
So I am jumping back in with both feet.
Moving 100% into "S" fund today.
Wish me luck. Either I am going to do fine, or else I just really screwed up.
Into the fire we dive!

I fell into a burning ring of fire - as I went down the flames went higher. Money is going to flow from overseas like water into our markets - higher highs for the next several years.
Hopefully it doesn't "burn, burn, burn -- that lake of fire, that lake of fire."

Now I feel like I been rained on. Need some good upward lift tomorrow.
Come on, Jim- sing it for me.
Feeling a bit "Moody" today.
Buried a very good man yesterday-
One of my original platoon members in 1991 when I was first comissioned, who later served with me when I was a company commander as well in 2000-2002.
He served three tours in Iraq. 2003, 2007, 2009.
His son was killed in Iraq in 2005.
He was a 100% disabled vet who was retired in 2012.
He served our nation for 23 years.
The gave it up, and bought a farm. and raised chickens and goats.
and had way too much to deal with -the monsters in his foot locker.
Thank you Sgt Ben.

He's actually the 6th member of my platoon who has since died.
I'll miss you.

Yes, thanks for sharing, James. May he rest in peace and finally be free of those monsters.
