As a general rule, losses make you strong and profits make you weak. But we don't have any idea how you are positioned.

    Sorry-

I moved May 1st into stocks-

    35% "C"
    35% "S"
    30% "I"

But it was late enough that it counted as number 1 move for May. So I have been very careful in not making the move out too soon. I'm to the point now that I've banked a nice gain this month, and am thinking of going to sidelines to hold on to the gains- because I keep seeing this oil price going up, and am sure we'll get hit with a second downturn shortly.

I think the tax rebates are proping up this cycle on the wave- people may be buying stocks with their rebates.

But the gas has to run out (that's a metphore) soon, and I really think we'll have at least one more good down cycle soon.

We'll just have to wait and see.

    James,
You made a great move. I remember having seen your P&F chart as well as your decision to move in. Frankly, I was still quite shaken by the previous, obscenely unfair, restrictions to do any IFTs during April. I was thinking also of the May negative seasonality and expected an earlier downturn. So, I have no excuses, but I failed to move in so I am still in the F fund. Congratulations!

As for me, I am waiting for a downturn because I believe it is too risky right now to move into the stock funds after such an upside run, and in a very overextended market.

I'm on a list that comes through pretty good sometimes. I normally would not post this info out here, but today's is particularly good, so I will post it. Enjoy it- makes you think for a while.

It's from a "Church Growth Institute" daily newsletter called "Prime Time at Work". And it's very good at times:

    =========================================

    Today's Prayer

God, I know You have chosen me for a purpose. Help me to fulfill that purpose. I pray for wisdom to pass the tests You allow in my life, to strengthen my faith and develop me for Your great purpose. If I am to lead; help me to lead. If I am to follow; help me to follow. If I am to make a difference in the world; help me to make that difference. If I am to influence one life; help me to influence that life. Whatever my lot; help me to succeed and excel for Your glory. Thank you, God.

"He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income" (Ecclesiastes 5:10).

A successful businessman once confided in another businessman known for his wisdom. "I've made a lot of money. I will soon be able to retire comfortably and do just about anything I want."

"John," the wise businessman replied to the man, "I've noticed that every time someone thinks they've built a tree that is so tall it almost reaches heaven, God often decides to shake the tree."

The minute we start trusting in riches, God will, in fact, "shake the tree" to demonstrate who is the source of wealth to turn us back to trusting Him completely. He did it in my life, and He'll do it in your life too because He loves us too much to allow us to continue down this destructive path.

Money is mentioned more than 2,000 times in the scripture. Jesus used it many times in illustrating an important lesson to his disciples. He spoke often of being a good steward of the resources He entrusted to us. He wanted a return on His investment and He wanted us to stay away from making money an idol in our lives.

Jesus understood that He was here on earth only to do the will of the Father. "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; He can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does."

As we look at our relationship to our heavenly Father and our use of money, it is clear that we, like Jesus, are here to do the will of the Father in all areas of life. This means seeking to live a life that is totally yielded to His purposes -even in the financial area.
Money, independence, and security are often the reasons many start their own businesses or change jobs. Check your motives today and see if your financial life can stand Jesus' scrutiny. Are you operating as a steward of the financial resources He has entrusted to you?

Enjoy it- makes you think for a while.

God, I know You have chosen me for a purpose.

As I read this my first thought was You have "made me" for a purpose. Because our life - and everything to do with life - is because of Him.

Yet you're right - it is most certainly God who chose us.

James - now you see why I love you so much.

"As we look at our relationship to our heavenly Father and our use of money, it is clear that we, like Jesus, are here to do the will of the Father in all areas of life. This means seeking to live a life that is totally yielded to His purposes -even in the financial area.

This is beautiful - very bottom line, down to earth essential truth.

God has nothing against us having lots of money - and as long as we keep His Glory as the overwhelming priority we will undoubtedly give the 1st 10% to Him regardless of our income; we will save a lot more by living a lifestyle that is honoring Him; and we will give generously because we all the more recognize our abundance stems from Him.

You're obviously my brother - thanks again.

    Right on again, Steadygain!

I find it interesting that some folks misquote the Bible and say that "money is the root of all evil." But I Timothy 6:10 actually says that "...the LOVE of money is the root of all evil...."

Make a big difference in the meaning, huh!

Lady, I am way too wired like a man - to not be taken in by you (or the presense of a lady).

So although I sincerely appreciate your support. You're probably exposing a bigger weakness.

Anyway, thank you. And sticking strickly with the Word of God IT makes a very big difference.

    James,

Thank you for sharing this message wih us. I always do state that we are here for a purpose and to fulfill His Will. I agree that we do not have to live in misery to obey the Scriptures' teachings. If we do help our church or the needy with at least 10% of all we earn, we will surely be blessed with a lot more. The fact that we make money is not unholy, to me it is one more way in which we can prove how much help we can give to His children, the needy and less fortunate, and what we give will be given back to us in blessings of all sorts.

    Note:

I have been debating all morning whether or not to bail to safety. Had we had unlimited IFT's I would be out today.

However, with limits, I am hesitating, because I wanted to keep a move available in case of emergency, and to set myself up for being able to do an in-and-out next month.

As such, I am going to hang on today. Against my gut- because gut is telling me we just hit the 200 day level, and bounced off it, and are about to get a swing down.

But I won't move so that I can prepare myself better for a swing move next month.

that's all I have to say today.

It's too bad we only get two moves, not three or four.

I have to stand pat where I am with this philosophy- so I am in 35/35/30 C/S/I and holding on.

I couldn't agree with you more James. But after reading an article from StockTiming.com I made the move to G today. The article is in my account. I hope the market has a small rally today so that everyone that made the jump has a profitable day. And for those that didn't may you have a very profitable day. Good Luck to all.
