NASA today debuts an inspirational video featuring Space Station and its crews set to the song "World" by recording artists Five for Fighting. The video features imagery of both the space station and the space shuttles that have served as the workhorses of space station construction and resupply. It uses selections from orbit as well as Earth-bound training and launch activities to communicate the importance of space exploration and its benefits for future generations. Intermixed are selections of video that show the beauty of as seen from the space station and scenes of children inspired by space exploration. The lyrics emphasize that "history starts now" and invite listeners to ask the question, "What kind of world do you want?"

The video ends with a reminder that although STS-135 is the final space shuttle mission, the International Space Station will continue an uninterrupted human presence in space. My wife will be rooting for Japan while I root for the US. I was hoping to watch, but game time is 3:45AM over here. I don't think soccer can get me out of bed at that hour. Might catch the end though.

I will not be able to watch the game Sunday. I have to work BBY.

Well I got back about half of what I lost yesterday. Going to be one of those weekends. I am working tomorrow at NASA, Sunday at BBY. To make it more interesting this evening chewing on some pizza I broke a tooth. Message left for the dentist. GRRR!!

Lawmaker pushes extension of pay freeze, workforce cuts

"A GOP lawmaker is proposing cuts to federal employee pay and jobs to improve the government's finances. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., on Monday unveiled a $9 trillion deficit reduction plan that would extend the current civilian pay freeze, reduce leave benefits and trim the workforce in an effort to cut government spending. The proposal builds on a number of fiscal commission recommendations introduced late last year."
