Well, for those who don't know, I left for Tampa last Sunday to see my father. All the siblings were there. Sunday night late, stopped and said hello. Monday he had to get an MRI for something on his brain. He already had Stage 4 kidney failure, aortic stenosis. He refused with all of us in the room. On Tuesday, they said he needed to leave the hospital. He didn't qualify for hospice since he wasn't in pain. However, they removed his CPAP and realized he was having trouble breathing, so they authorized his hospice stay. We checked him in Tuesday night and he looked at my mom and asked why it wasn't over yet. On Wednesday, 0313, he passed peacefully. Services were held in a packed house on Friday, where they announced that their new facilities building in the 55 and older community my parents lived in would be named after him. (He handled many of the upgrades and new building there and was loved by the staff.) Godspeed Dad!
