This will be interesting...
Don't count me out just yet... for a couple of reasons.
1. Because the local TD branches remain closed amid COVID-19, I'm waiting on them to send me some overnight envelopes so I can mail the appropriate paperwork to them... then they will mail it back to me... then I will mail the entire package to TSP. I expected those envelopes to arrive yesterday. I followed up with TD today. Still awaiting their reply.
2. Once my package is submitted to TSP, it will take them 7-10 days (supposedly) to send TD a check.
Therefore, I will give myself at least another week to make some $$$ in the TSP. This could be the ideal time if the selloff/correction continues.
At any rate, the clock for that 7-10 day wait for my TSP transfer will not begin to tick down until TSP receives my package. Of course, they won't receive it until I mail it. So, I just might have to wait a bit longer to mail it if I am making some $$$. We shall see!
God Bless

I was really tempted to go 100 (S). But giving it more thought, I'll feel better if my TSP is at the ready and sitting in (G) when my transfer to TD commences. Because I would not know the exact day that takes place, I'd hate to get caught up in any downturn with the account transfer initiated. And I will not rely on any 1-2 day quick in/outs to try and make some $$$ before my account transfer takes place.
With that said, I did hear from TD, and they will be sending me another overnight package. I don't know if they dropped the ball on my initial request, though. They did say they sent me the overnight package last Wednesday. Maybe they did. Maybe they did not. At any rate, I should have that package within the next couple of days.

J. Powell's testimony the next couple of days will pour water or gasoline on this rally. Which will it be? Fizzle or Sizzle?
And what will you do if it's sizzle? Take profits? I certainly would. If this rally extends into Wednesday's IFT deadline, I would then lock in those profits. I would not wait for the first down day after the rally... hoping for the rally to continue. But, that's just me. Lock it while I got it!
What will you do? You will soon face that decision.

First off best of luck Rod in the move of your funds to TD and retirement. I haven't been here long but you and others have helped me make wiser decisions to either make money or not lose it. So thanks! I am in the position here today thinking about this exact topic. You know how this stuff goes but as of now it looks like a promising day. Who knows where we will close but at the moment looks like it could be a big up day. So do I take the profits and move out of S back to G? I am asking myself this question this morning. I got caught with the big drop the other day 100% in S. But things have worked themselves back and if we get a big day I'm tempted to move a portion or all back. I will wait until deadline to see what I will do.
If it was me, that is where I would go... back to (G). But, I would be asking myself, "When?" For me, that would depend upon how the markets react to Powell's testimony. That testimony will begin at 1000 EST. If the markets are rallying strong by the IFT deadline (because of Powell's testimony), then I would expect some follow-through tomorrow. But, if the markets have lost half of their gains by the IFT deadline today, then I would likely initiate that IFT today back to (G). Ask yourself, where is momentum at around 1130? Take note of where the Dow, S&P, Nasdaq, and DWCPF are at now. Then compare that with where they are at around 1130.
As you know, it's really difficult trying to predict what the markets will do 4 hours before the closing bell. Of course, this is the primary reason why I am transferring my TSP account to my TD account.
If you do IFT back to (G) today, there is the chance that you will miss a continuation of this rally. But, would you rather lock in guaranteed gains or take the chance of losing some of them in hopes of adding to them? What is your risk tolerance?
Things were much easier back in the day when we could make an IFT every day.
