    Happy Resurrection Day!

"25) He (Thomas) heard the accounts of each brother’s interaction with the Lord.

The Other Disciples: 'We have seen the Lord!'

Thomas: 'Until I see His hands, feel the wounds of the nails, and put my hand to His side, I won’t believe what you are saying.'

    26) Eight days later, they gathered again behind locked doors; and Jesus reappeared. This time Thomas was with them.

Jesus: 'May each one of you be at peace.'

    27) He drew close to Thomas.

Jesus: 'Reach out and touch Me. See the punctures in My hands; reach out your hand, and put it to My side; leave behind your faithlessness, and believe.'

Thomas (filled with emotion): 28) 'You are the one True God and Lord of my life!'

Jesus: 29) 'Thomas, you have faith because you have seen Me. Blessed are all those who never see Me and yet they still believe!'

    30) Jesus performed many other wondrous signs that are not written in this book.

    31) These accounts are recorded so that you, too, might believe that Jesus is the Anointed, the Liberating King, the Son of God, because believing grants you the life He came to share!"

    John 20:25-31

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

    Hebrews 11:6

And this is The Gospel, or The Good News...

"1) Now I declare to you, brothers (and sisters), the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand,

    2) by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

    3) For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

    4) that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

    1 Corinthians 15:1-4

    These two "headlines"...

That's what is wrong with Mr. Market. He just isn't making any sense.

    Be careful out there.

Except, we've all been conditioned to buy low. When the market goes through one of the worst times in the decade, people start wanting to buy, regardless of what the fundamentals look like. I wish I'd went with my gut and bougt during the last week of March, but I missed it. I was too scared, too worried about preserving what I have this close to retirement. But, for the average guy out there that might not pay so much attention, this has seemed like a good time to buy. I've ran with the educated herd that's saying that another retest of the lows is likely. Whether that's days or weeks ahead, no one will take that bet. Could it be the flurry of bad news to come means that people start pouring their money into equities?

If you are relying upon your TSP for retirement (I am not), then it's best to resist the urge to catch any relief rallies on gut instincts. If I was relying upon my TSP for retirement, I would not dip my toe into the waters until we are above the 200-DMA through implementing the 3 to 5 day closing confirmation rule:

The 3 to 5 day closing confirmation rule says not to trust a breakdown or breakout until you see 3 to 5 closes below support or above resistance.

But, that's just me. I tend to be extremely conservative during times like this- even when I won't be relying upon my TSP for retirement.

I'm fighting the urge to go against what you suggest, but so far have been successful My comments aren't really directed at you, but moreso to the headlines you pointed out. yea, I'm counting on my TSP to make a better life for me in retirement. I don't want to have to pick up a second job to make ends meet. I have something lined up for "play money," but that will be a want to job, not a need to job.

    Oh yeah, I understand that.

I don't get paid to say this... but, maybe you might benefit from subscribing to one of the premium services? That would take out all of the guesswork on your part and give you a system to follow. I would think that would alleviate a lot of stress for folks. Heck, RevShark's system was up 4.1% as of 31 Mar. That's outstanding in this environment. Might be up even more now.

Hey rangerray, you are talking my language when you made the remark about a "want to job, not a need to job". Six years ago, I decided to take on one of those want to jobs, having retired 3 years earlier and being bored out of my mind with my wife still working. I opted to get my licence and certifications and drive a school bus. Granted it is not for everyone, but has been very rewarding for me. Being around young people can be very invigorating for an old guy like myself, the pay is not bad and the work schedule, a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon, plus summers off for traveling, schweeeeeet. Anyway, just thought I would throw that out there if you are thinking about a "want to job".

Likewise. I have a part-time gig at the local airport. Don't need the money, but it keeps me busy. Especially during the winter months when I am not working my 8.58 acres as hard. Right now, I am putting those earnings toward paying cash for a new (or used... < 3 years old) truck. My 2001 GMC Sierra has nearly 261,000 miles on it. I did put a re-manufactured transmission in it around Nov 2016. So, I am done sinking cash into it on major repairs.

I'm going to mow a few yards locally. Perhaps a few commercial properties. I already have commercial-grade equipment and everything I need, unless I take out an insurance policy. I like cutting grass. It's sort of a mindless activity, I can give local folks a huge break over the cost of the big companies, and I can work really hard in the mornings and take off early in the day. Best of all, I'll be my own boss.

I'd love to be able to do that. But, my ailments don't allow it. In the summer of 2018, I demoed so many zero turns before I settled on the Ferris 2100Z (61") because of its comfort/adjustable suspension springs. But, I still come away with a heckuva whiplash from time to time. I mow 5 of my 8.58 acres. Takes me about 3.5 hrs. I do it over 2 days.

But, guess what I had before I bought that ZT? I was using a Craftsman residential 42" that I bought back in 2006 when we lived on a little more than 1/2 acre. I used that to mow 5 acres for 3 years (2015-2018) before it finally crapped out on me. Guess how long it took me to mow with that? 10.5 hrs. I can't believe I put up with that for that long. But, I did.

I like the idea of the 3-5 day closing confirmation rule in conjunction with 200 day SMA. Kind of sounds like a prove it rule.

I sunk a small fortune in a John Deere Z930M. It's a 48", but it lets me get into smaller yards in my neighborhood. I'm not missing the extra width because it mows really fast. I have a Stihl commercial edger, trimmer and blower. And that covers everything I do. I edge, mow and blow. No flower beds, pruning hedges or leaves. I tell my customers that what they save with me they can spend with a neighborhood kid to do the rest. It's working so far and I have more than I can handle while I'm still working that other job with the government.

I don't blame you for upgrading, though. I'd have given up with that other mower a lot sooner than you did, but you probably wanted to squeeze every penny out of it if you're like me. None of that stuff is cheap anymore, regardless if it's consumer grade or commercial.
