If we are on the verge of a financial collapse, how the he** is a measly $700 billion supposed to fix it? Aren't there many trillions of dollars out there, ready to fail?

I don't know how to bleep out the curses. It's George Carlin, so please don't watch if you don't like to hear curses, but what he says is pretty much on the money:

I wish I waited until today to get back in. I'll just have to surf this wild wave.

I mean, "SELL! SELL! SELL!" *trying to spread more fear*

I thought the same thing last night 'When I realized the DEAL had not gone through'.

The problem is: "Everyone is now essentially convinced that until the DEAL goes through - the economy will continue to TANK."

It's possible that Congress (which I thought would push it immediately through Last Monday) may let this drag on a bit longer. So if they wait another week or two...then today is just the start; you'd be way better off waiting for the gate to open. The horses (Bulls) can't run until the gates open.

You've got a good point there. People are still upset about this "fix." Give it a couple of weeks of financial bloodshed and you'll have Americans begging to pass the bill.

Actually until there was a crisis on the financial side almost everyone was saying and many probably believed "the economy is strong". Those in the know are seeing what's coming with no action, and maybe it's a good idea to wait also because we may be able to see more of this monster and have time to figure out possibly better ways to contain it.

On your "boat" posting, I think there were hopes that things would hold up long enough for them to steal the chickens and leave the eggs (about to hatch hungry chicks) for the next "Hoover" (especially good if next guy is from the other party, and right in the middle of a transition, but no matter what plaster it on someone else's legacy).

I just heard on MSNBC that Paulson failed in selling this thing. People don't realize that if this credit crunch continues, you might not be able to use your credit card.

Oh no!! Don't take away The Great American Credit Card! What will we ever do without our credit cards?
