I would like to find out from others, too, if they:
1. have Tricare for Life as a supplement to Medicare?
2. have FEHB and Tricare as supplement to Medicare?
Yes, 5 weeks ago I had a right lung lower lobe removed, it was CANCER, NON SMALL CELL Cancer. Caught it in the right time, next appointment XRAY is due in 4 months, if that is OK they will look yearly. A blessing for me. PRICE, saw Document the other day Total Price was over $78,000 and Medicare and BCBS paid over $12,000 and the Doctors settled for that, I haven't paid one Bill but may have to pay a little, so far NOTHING?

Thank you so much nasa1974 for the response. This info is helping me a lot.
I will pray for the recovery of your wife.

Wow. These are great stories of how good our coverage is for retirement. Now I feel great about our healthcare as retirement approaches and even more inclined to retire at MRA +30. My prayers to each of you and your family members! I hope that you are all still able to enjoy retirment years! Best of luck to all!
Re: Maricar19 Account Talk
I only had a visit unexpectedly to the emergency room and for the first time no bill(s) to pay.
Nothing more.
All the best.

She suffers from ALS and between Medicare and Tricare for Life have not incurred any additional bills we are responsible for. Everything has been paid in full (80% through Medicare and the remainder through Tricare for Life) In addition we both receive pharmacy, lab, x-rays and vision through a local military clinic near my home as part of our Tricare for Life benefits at no additional cost.

Raven, I am very sorry to hear about your wife. I will pray for you and her. It must be tough for both of you.
I am very thankful for your response. Question, when I qualify for Tricare4Life, I can get prescriptions through VA?

nnuut, thank you for responding. I hope for your quick recovery. You are so upbeat with your posts that I would not think that you are going through some medical issues. Hang in there. Will pray for you.

Hi Kdjs,
Truth - that's what we want, just a little side trip to ER and that's it.

Thank you for your prayers and yes there are days it is extremely tough. But in spite of the hardships it is extremely gratifying to be her caregiver. One day God will call her home and in my heart I know I have made the time she has left very special.
As for your question regarding getting prescriptions through the VA, I can't give you an answer as we use an active duty health clinic for our care and services and not the VA. Perhaps someone who uses them can chime in on VA benefits and how to go about setting that up.
Take care and thanks again for your prayers.

RF, sorry to hear about your wife. We are fortunate as government/federal/military employees and retirees that we have good health insurance options. My wife's one immunotherapy session was over $64,000.00 and Medicare and BCBS has picked that cost up. Good luck stay strong and you are in our prayers.
