Are you asking for a number at which once the value of the TSP fund has reached you get out? What I have seen on this site is mostly people trying to anticipate up or down movement, not target valuations like you might see in a traditional company stock. I think it is very hard to come up with a number for a TSP fund that you think the market won't support higher than that number. I have seen people move to the lily pad (G or F) once they hit a goal (certain % increase that month, or dollar goal before retirement).

As flalaw97 states "it is very hard to come up with a number for a TSP fund that you think the market won't support higher than that number." When I am not following my premium services recommendations I use a crossover strategy using the 10 SMA (simple moving average) As long as the closing price is above the 10 SMA I'm in, when it drops below I exit. However, I tend to get sucked in by the "Wall of Worry" and end up bailing to soon. I need to be more disciplined in that area.

    Hope this answers your question.

I thought about doing that too but didn't. I know I have to bite the bullet at some point. I've lost money in 2020 and so far I have been not making anything in the G fund this year. My timing is always bad so I know as soon as I do it the markets will pull back. I think I just have to dip my toes in slowly and see what happens. Who knows we probably will keep going up, it's unicorns farting rainbows right now so everything is great for some. Maybe we can get a couple more 2 or 3% down days soon and I can jump back in. The experts kept saying in 2020 how the market was overextended and now they are saying it again in 2021 so if things keep going the same way we should be way up again in 2021.
