Thread: ripper's account talk

I'm happy to share that my battle against cancer has been going well. My latest scan a few weeks ago was clean and my next scan won't be for another year instead of six months. That was the best Christmas present I could hope for. I'm so grateful and blessed.

I've decided to track another ETF trading system on here. I'm primarily tracking it on here for my own accountability. I have a tendency to sometimes let these things slide and not keep on top of them or maybe not be as accurate as I should in my tracking.
This system has done pretty well in the past, but what matters most is how it does in the present. The system primarily trades UPRO and SPXU, with positions lasting from several days to possibly over a month. It also may be in a neutral position in cash at times.

The system is currently holding UPRO, which it moved to on 12/2 and has shown a gain of about 11% since then. But since I want to be as transparent as possible, I will use the price of UPRO at COB on 12/31 as the starting point for tracking in 2020.
I will try to post all trades as close to real-time as possible.

Thank you! Yes, I have undeservedly been blessed!

I'm still in the Black Hills. It's beautiful here in the winter, too, with the snow. And things slow down quite a bit when tourist season ends.
But the winters are rather long. I was ice fishing on Halloween and we're received around 6 feet of snow so far.

Due to the long winter here, I'm leaving on Monday and don't plan to return until early March. I'll be spending about a week in Oklahoma and then in Texas with kids and grandkids. Then on to Florida for about 6 weeks on the beach. Then back here the first part of March to catch the end of winter. I love watching and experiencing the evolution of winter into spring here.
    I love retirement!

Welp - one day into tracking my trading system on here and it's on the wrong side of a major world event. Those things obviously happen and I'll just have to see how it plays out.

Sold the other 50% of the UPRO position at the close @ $73.00, for an average selling price of $72.825. The basis for the trade was $70.01 - the price of UPRO at the close on 12/31.
Trade had a net profit of 4.0%.
The system is currently in cash.

Unless there is a major change in the market between now and the close, the system will move to a sell signal and will take a 50% position in SPXU at its closing price.

I was traveling yesterday and unable to post an update.
The system moved to a cash position at the close and sold the 50% SPXU position at $18.83, for a loss of 0.3%.
The system is now +3.7% YTD and currently in cash.

Ugh. I misread the signal. System did not change and maintains a 50% position in SPXU. Issues with being on the road. Time change messed me up.
