Well lets hope over the next week or so we can recover everything we lost since Friday. I'll take a 1/2 percent today. More would be nice but let's not get to greedy.
May the force be with us.

I don't disagree with you but I think people will be people and fear will be fear. I am starting to see a few people out in public in Illinois wearing face mask. That didn't happen with Sars or even Ebola when it was hitting Africa and it I have never seen it as related to the flu. I think most people accept that the flu will kill an x amount every year and have grown up with that as it has became the norm. Now however, they are scared that "not only" do they have to deal with the flu but this virus as well and there isn't any concrete information out there to make them feel better. No one really knows how long one is contagious is it 14 days, 21 days a month, 6 years it is all guessing right now. Doctors are doing are their best but in this case until a proven remedy is found, they are "practicing" medicine. I wonder what the market would do if it hit one of our major citys and the Governor or Mayor closed schools etc. It would be interesting.

I'm out of trades this month and I 'm kind of glad I am. Knowing myself I would have been trying to catch the falling knife over the past couple days. I have a habit of doing that. I'm sure I will jump in at some point. I just hope there is a bottom in place by then.

I found this on CNBC site and you know they pump the market.

The number of new COVID-19 cases outside China exceeded those inside the country for the first time, the World Health Organization announced. Outside of China, there are now 2,790 cases of the coronavirus across 37 countries, including 44 deaths as of Wednesday morning, according to a transcript of remarks from Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of WHO.

Quabit, there just isn't the severity of this virus that is seen with the common flu. It is being overblown in the news for ratings, and by the dems to give the president a black eye. Its a shame, really. This down turn is the pits, would have stepped aside yesterday but for the TSP security nonsense. My PIN finally arrived, so hopefully I won't be held hostage by slow emails anymore.

The Pin (2 factor authentication) issue really sucks. I too have been hit by it and posted about it to the TSP "send us a comment" section hoping they would make the cutoff time longer than 10 min. I have waited sometimes over 30 min for it to arrive through the email system. I'm sure it isn't TSP but the security of my work email screening it on the way through and we are not allowed to access personal email accounts. I'm sure my post to them fell on deaf ears since it doesn't affect them. Unfortunately I will never get a feedback response to know if they are even considering it. Maybe more folks needs to post to get their attention to extend the time.

Good luck, I hope everything works out for you and I enjoy and value reading your post. I hope/pray this virus ends up being nothing and this ends up being a buying opportunity but should it hit even as hard as the flu I hope/pray for good health for the entire TSPTALK family.

Are you guys not able to use your cell phones for the 2-factor authentication? When I get the code via text message instead of e-mail, it literally comes within 2 seconds.

Now, I'm hearing talk of pressure on the President to temporarily suspend the tariff's on China. But, didn't he campaign on really sticking it to China? I mean, to me, this is the time to remain resolute.

I can but I work in a secure facility and can't bring the phone into work. If I don't get the code in time the first try I have to walk out to the parking lot to check my phone. If I have time before the normal cutoff ie. noon est, I can do that but there has been times where I have been on the fence and finally make a decision just before cutoff and can't make the round trip in time.

Since 2 factor was implemented and I am pretty sure I will make a change, I try to get logged in about about 30-45 min prior to cutoff and every so often click through the links just to keep it active so I have the option to make a move. When work pulls me away, I'm screwed. Sometimes this works sometimes it don't. Someone mentioned earlier in Whips thread the idea of robo calls, that would be awesome if that were an option because as is I feel even more restricted then only having 2 trades per month. Now I feel I can't even make a same day trade decision.

    Automated calls are an option.

"The ThriftLine is the TSP's automated telephone service. The number is toll free within the United States and Canada. The ThriftLine has information such as current TSP news, share prices, and loan and annuity rates. You will need your TSP account number and TSP Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access your account and perform certain transactions. You can also call the ThriftLine to speak with a TSP Participant Service Representative"

Whipsaw, funny our discussion over the past couple days and not this hit the local news here. This is in my backyard and a few miles east of Saint Louis. Hopefully its a false alarm but you can see there is fear starting to run. https://fox2now.com/news/belleville-...KaNKiyC_tr2bs4
